After leaving Diverge Networks for a month or two and now having been back for a little while, I've realized that I miss a lot of the responsibilities of being a staff member. From being on the staff team, I amassed a lot of knowledge of the server rules including some of the more niche/unwritten-though-enforced rules of Diverge that I can't really put to use since I'm not staff. Not only knowledge of the rules, but I greatly enjoyed the community interactions I had as a staff member that I see current staff members having, both through gamemaster events and standard enforcement of server rules. One of the stand-out features of being a staff member that I miss was dissecting the more general/vague parts of the rules and having debates in Staff Sits. The intricacy of the Diverge server rules is something that is outmatched on any other Garry's Mod server (that I've seen/read). Why should you be considered over other candidates?: I think some of my qualities that would put me above other candidates would be my knowledge of the server rules and experience as a staff member. From being staff on Diverge Networks, I have gained both knowledge and understanding of the server rules, both written and unwritten. Comparatively, to a candidate who has a lesser understanding of the rules, I would be able to handle situations more efficiently and with more accuracy in regards to my judgement. Secondly, to my experience as a staff member, I have both an understanding and a habit of handling situations involving staff members in a certain manner. Admittedly, being staff on Diverge Networks means that someone who think that you have wronged them by enforcing the rules aren't often able to listen to reason and often hurl insults and profanities when you inform them of a punishment or that they did something wrong. Having both experienced and navigated that aspect of being a staff member, I would be able to handle situations with a more calm demeanor & level head than a person who was inexperienced with staff interactions, leading to a more positive experience on both sides. (Please list where, what position and how long): I have had several different experiences as staff on roleplay servers across the last ~5-ish years, but my most recent and relevant instance was as a Senior Moderator on Prometheus Networks for 7-8 months & being a Moderator on Diverge Networks for 3-4 months. Have you been banned before on any of our servers? If so, why?: I have never been banned on Diverge Networks. Would you say that you are well known in our community, what's your reputation, what do other members think of you?: I would say that I am decently well-known throughout Diverge, though I am most definitely not the most known. From the people I do know, I believe I have a good reputation. I am unaware of anybody that I have a poor relationship with. What is your favorite moment on Diverge so far?: I have a hard time picking out a specific moment on Diverge that is my "favorite moment", though I can say without a doubt one of my favorite experiences was the Valentine's Day Racket War a few months ago. Both the PvP coupled with strategy & playing with friends was a lot of fun and very rewarding when my faction was moved up in our racket. Have any staff members recommended you? How do you handle this?: I would start off by clipping the incident with Medal to have proof of the actual RDM. After I have situated the clip and trimmed it accordingly to highlight the incident that needs reporting, I would contact a fellow member of staff, showing them the clip I had gotten as evidence and ask them for a Staff Sit with myself, the staff, and the person who RDM'd me. I would ensure that I personally did not handle the situation myself to avoid any potential bias on my part, along with a proper explanation from a third party that was not involved in the incident in the case of any refreshers of server rules or, if warranted, any punitive action being taken. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: I would ensure every time I witnessed the abuse happen, I would gather appropriate proof of the incident (screenshots, clips, audio recordings, etc.). After witnessing the abuse occur, I would attempt to message them and ask what provoked these actions and what led them to abuse. After trying to gather more information, I would let them know/remind them that their actions would be considered abuse. If the member of staff genuinely seemed ignorant to the fact that their actions were abusive, I may hold off on reporting. Otherwise, if the staff member did not seem remorseful and seemed like they knew it was abuse already, I would show the evidence I collected to a member of staff higher than the individual, most likely a member of Upper Administration. I would continually record the evidence and submit it every time I witnessed it, repeating the process. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: Once I receive the ticket, I would start off as I usually would do with gathering the evidence and collecting each side's story of the situation. Considering that I would personally know this person in this situation, I would want to avoid any bias decisions or any accusations of being biased. To do this, I would contact another member of staff to get their opinion on the situation and get confirmation as to whether or not he/she thinks the claims are valid enough for punitive action. Once I've gotten a second opinion from another member of staff, I would either pass the situation off to them entirely, or proceed with punishment or lack thereof depending on the opinion given by the other member of staff. What server rule or PK rule was violated?: Because the police officer who killed me was not in a situation that met the PK requirements and there was no way for me to know he was a police officer. He was wearing plain clothes while acting as a patrol officer. If possible please provide video evidence or photo evidence if PK does not follow the guidelines: I was accused of burning a dead body, even though I wasn't the person who did it (This can be verified through the server logs) Because of that false accusation, I attempted to shoot the officer who was trying to arrest me. During the situation, Sergeant Hamida Abdullah shot me with an event weapon (a Musket) while wearing plain clothes and without being in uniform as a Patrol Officer Afterwards Monaclu switched to his staff character, took the ticket himself, and personally PK'd my character. I'm not trying to make this into a staff report, but the fact that I was shot by a police character who wasn't in uniform while using an event weapon, and then had the same person switch to their staff character and PK me, doesn't sit right with me. I'll leave it up to the UA team to decide whether that was handled appropriately. According to the server rules, unless you're a Detective or have special authorization from the NYPD, you aren't allowed to get involved in situations while dressed as a white shirt. Even if you do, it shouldn't result in a PK. According to the first screenshot I uploaded, since you weren't a Detective and weren't wearing the proper uniform, you weren't considered to be actively on duty. Because of that, you can't PK me for VCWP while off duty. You're wearing a white shirt and participating in the event. You send a Senior Officer after me over the radio then you show up and kill me with an event weapon. How am I supposed to know you're a threat or that you're a Sergeant standing behind me with a musket when you're dressed as a white shirt and carrying an event weapon? And on top of that, both you and the officer next to you died right after I did. So you kill me while dressed like a white shirt patrol officer die immediately afterwards and then I still end up getting PK'd? If you fail to escape the scamming situation the victim may force you at gunpoint (fear RP) to drop the items stolen, in this instance it is not considered a mugging (no PK risk to victim) nor is it power-gaming, failure to comply or attempting to escape and being killed will result in a PK. The first thing you should do when someone scams you is point a gun at them, apply FearRP and demand that they return the item. Chasing someone while holding a gun in safety mode and simply saying "give the item back" does not count as applying FearRP. Because of that i personally believe this PK was invalid

As Akira pointed out the server rules clearly state that after a scam takes place the victim must point a gun at the scammer apply FearRP and demand the stolen item back. How does me pulling out my weapon in safety mode or trying to run away change that? The person chasing me had his weapon in safety mode and simply said, "Yo, give that back." There was no FearRP and no escalation and I was immediately shot. The server rules explicitly state: "If you fail to escape the scamming situation, the victim may force you at gunpoint (FearRP) to drop the stolen items." I was never held at gunpoint and I was never told to drop the items while under FearRP. Because of that i believe this PK should be considered invalid. If they had pointed a gun at me and properly applied FearRP as required by the server rules I would've returned the item. Instead of that they immediately played for the kill and never followed the required FearRP or escalation procedures.

Likewise you may only make realistic demands, this means you can’t demand something unrealistic that the victim cannot deliver in order to kill them. Give them a realistic amount of time to comply. Don't order them to do something then shoot them < 5 seconds later, they barely have time to comply." You can see in my clip that I was running along past the laundromat, I was first engaged by the muggers at about the 6 second mark, when I heard the muggers finish their first command during the 6 second mark, I stopped, trying to process the situation. They ordered me to come back, so at around the 9-10 second mark, you can see that I started walking towards them, complying. They then, for the exactly 4/4.5 second delay in my processing of their commands in this stressful situation, they shot me- while I was starting to comply. The server rules explicitly explain that "Don't order them to do something then shoot them < 5 seconds later, they barely have time to comply." The mugging that resulted in the death of my character, where I started to comply and was given barely even 5 seconds to process the situation does not align with this rule's understanding of how muggings should work. I was given too little time to comply, and at the moment of my death at the 10 second mark (~4 seconds from the end of the first verbal command), I was complying. "You may not mug in a public place, you can, however, pull a weapon on them and bring them to a secluded area to rob them (This can only be done when there is no one else around. EXAMPLE: The victim is alone at night in the middle of an empty street. You initiate a mugging with your firearm and take them to an alleyway so no one stumbles upon the crime. You may not perform the mugging in the street, which is a public area.)" The mugging was not performed in a secluded enough area. You can see in my clip that I was walking along the sidewalk adjacent to rockefeller, a fairly public place- and while if rockefeller is unoccupied it would be fair to mug in an empty street, there was literally a police car just down from the mugging watching it taking place, which you can see in my clip. My mugging was not done in private, was done in a location where someone "stumbles upon the crime" something that is explicitly disallowed as not a valid mugging location in the rules. You can see the police car in the 9ish second mark approaching from behind the pillar on the side of the road, and, after I was sent to the hospital, at the 15 second mark- you can hear "Lieutenant Danny Silvershine" calling out shots fired on the radio. You can also see people just down the street in view, in the same direction of the police car- who would be able to see the crime. In NO WAY was this a secluded incident, where the mugging was done in a "public place", and the only exception for mugging in such a location, where "no one else around" is observed to be true- is false. Ultimately, the mugging was not done in an appropriate location, and I was not given enough time to comply (which I was doing anyways when they shot me if you watch my clip closely). I was given less than 5 seconds to comply, which server rules specifies is not enough time, and the mugging was done too publicly for a PK to be issued. Server rules gives the victim of a mugging this buffer time to respond to avoid a needless death of a valued character, I was not given this time, nor was I afforded the consideration of an appropriate location for mugging RP, seeing as the location was fairly public, and nowhere near "secluded". Imagine joining the RP server and Roleplaying yourself instead of counting on the system to do it for you. The keyboard is *right there* bro.

I know this guy. He’s an absolute fucking troll, and anyone who’s interacted with him knows that. Half the time he’s just trying to get a reaction out of people. But when it actually matters, he knows how to flip that switch and be serious. Sure, his history of notes and bans isn’t the greatest, but I’ve also seen him mature over time. A lot of the best players on Diverge weren’t perfect when they first started either. People learn, and I genuinely think he’s one of those people. He’s a great person to be around, lighthearted, approachable, and understanding. I think he’d be someone who’s willing to listen, learn, and take feedback rather than let his ego get in the way. Yes, I didn't mean that I wasn't involved in the situation. What I meant was that I wasn't the person who burned the dead body. You saw me while I was attempting the PK yourself. You told me you were busy and didn't interfere. Instead, you directed another Senior Officer to my location over the radio (it's clear from the clip that you were communicating over the radio). Then while that officer was trying to arrest me you came back and killed me First you leave an incident that you personally witnessed. Then about five minutes later you return wearing only a white shirt kill me switch to your staff character personally PK my character and even send an event message afterward. If the UA would like to see it I'm happy to provide my own clip. In the footage you can clearly be heard saying that you weren't going to deal with me before leaving the scene. Yet about five minutes later while not even wearing a proper police uniform you directed a Senior Officer to deal with me then returned yourself and killed me which ultimately led to my PK. Is that really an appropriate or ethical way to handle the situation?

I was banned for RDM yesterday after I killed a redcoat who killed me I had also been repeatedly killed by redcoats and made several tickets asking to be comped none of which were taken I killed 1 redcoat who had killed me earlier partly because I was mad and partly because I didn't want to lose another gun. I was brought in by bullets and banned for RDM and never comped I honestly feel bullets is biased against me and the people who I play with as he hates all of us. He deliberately did not take my comp ticket and banned me over RMDing someone who had already killed me and didn't lose anything

I have seen it happen many times where there just isn't enough staff around especially in the later mid-week EST hours to make government chars fun to continue at times where the minge hour gets a bit too out of hand, people need autoplead but there's no staff on to validate it, people breaking nlr, etc. These days, I'm not locked into a faction where I can have enough skin in the game to be biased. In my opinion, we do truly need more staff who have little to no real conflict or reason to even be suspected of abuse. In my case, I'm just the legal guy who plays his cop a lot. I don't have a purpose for slimy nonsense I'd cut it down the middle just like I was acting on my Judge char. Have you been banned before on any of our servers? If so, why?: I was banned for Char Abuse and Metagame one time about a year back. I regret the incident and don't deny wrongdoing. I've since learned from my actions and ultimately went through a lot with Diverge from that point onward. I've matured a fair bit in that time, from getting my degree to settling down and getting married. I've had a long time to reflect on myself as a person, and the way I present myself when I play the game. Obviously the action was wrong, I accept that and feel that I have moved on and grown from the experience more than a year later. Would you say that you are well known in our community, what's your reputation, what do other members think of you?: That's a mixed bag. I used to be a major criminal main. I used to run SOS and was a crim lawyer. During that time my reputation was positive until the end of that time. I went on to do undercover work which is seriously unpopular even oocly leading to my blacklist in most factions. I then went on to be a detective who was very effective at his job, leading to many important people getting arrested. I also did not let little things go either, believing that small offenses often lead to big arrests. This leaves me seriously unpopular with the crims. However, I feel that I am well liked among the government mains. I'm presently a patrol Sergeant on my cop and I also play a Judge. I spend way more time in that sphere than others outside of when I'm doing court-based material which is most frequent. What is your favourite moment on Diverge so far?: It's not so much a moment exactly but it was my time in SOS. It was a long road which ultimately came to an abrupt and sour end but the time was well spent. When I had joined, SOS was on an activity warning and getting ready to lose the whitelist. I joined on my former Cartel Monteria character as a Captain. I helped claw the faction back from the brink, with some help inside and outside the club. When Gecko ultimately lost interest in running the show, he gave it to Punisher where I went on to serve as his VP. We had a rough go at first since Punisher clashed with many of the existing members of the Club, and many people outside the club as well. I learned during that experience early on about how fatal your bank account can be on Diverge and narrowly escaped getting a felony charge which would have ended my run as the club lawyer. I remember the sweet wins I had in court on that character. I stumbled my way through Court RP, getting lucky mostly but making a ton of money doing it. During the legal trouble, it put a freeze on Punisher and I and later Gunny moved up to surpass me as President. Together, him and I did legitimately crazy plays that got SOS out of being a district of Takahashi into being its own faction. I recall sitting there on the first racket event with the credit cards and seeing an opportunity to buy our way out. We gave all of our cards to Takahashi but one, where SOS then bumped down to H but Taka paid us $1,000,000 and released us from district in exchange for giving them all of the SOS and 14K credit cards which they gave to Kosher free of charge for some godforsaken unknown reason. While we lost the racket event, it was the sweetest victory since we achieved a major goal. Watching the club grow under us, it made me proud. I fondly remember on New Year's day 2025 I made a long winded announcement where I shared my appreciation and celebrated SOS' comeback from the brink where Pendred replied to it that it was indeed a great comeback. One of the craziest moments I ever did have on Diverge was going toe-to-toe with District Attorney Jeffrey Blake in the case People v (Whatever Candles' UB of laventine was called). I had ultimately fought a hard fight and got an unlikely win after arguing a case that had a shaky defense. As we were celebrating, I recall getting surrounded by detectives and shuffled into the Judges chambers where I was then arrested on weapons stockpiling charges. I could go on for some time but sometimes the losses I took along the way are just as astonishing as the wins since the circumstances are both funny and memorable. Someone RDMs and you are currently off-duty. How do you handle this?: If possible, I'd try to get another staff member to handle it considering I'm likely mid-RP. If none are available and my flagging up wouldn't be a major nuisance to others around me, I'd handle the ticket ASAP on my staff char. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: I'd preserve all evidence I have of the abuse and bring it to the attention of UA. It wouldn't need to be a case of "fairly often" but moreso "happens at all". Staff abuse is never tolerable even if the offense is viewed as minor. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: I would first try to get another staff member on the ticket as there could be an appearance of bias. While I may be mindful of the fact that this person may rarely commit that offense, I'd always be inclined against giving out punishment without evidence anyways. Even if someone has 10 PO's for an offense they're being reported for, the default opinion should be that there won't be punishment where there isn't proof. After coming to a conclusion on the case, if there isn't another staff member able to look at it in game, I'd reach out to one by discord, show the evidence I have, and ask if the verdict is reasonable if I can do so in a reasonable amount of time.

Hello PKing Admin here! After reviewing the video evidence and the full details of the situation at the time, here is why I did my ruling. The player knowingly took a dropped high-value cosmetic item ($40k), refused to give it back when asked then ran off with it, and then pulled a gun while fleeing. This was a clear case of intentional theft/robbery that escalated into armed confrontation. Relevant rules from the PK Guidelines: Under Mugging / Robbery: Being killed while attempting to mug or rob someone carries the possibility of a PK. Financial Harm: Theft causing significant financial loss (well over the $10,000 threshold noted in the guidelines for harm to a player/faction) is listed as valid grounds. Fear RP & Confrontations: Pulling a weapon during the escape turns this into a violent situation where the victim can escalate because it's not like they can tie them up or get it back. While not every item theft results in a PK (especially minor or non-escalated ones), the troll intent, direct refusal after confrontation, and drawing a gun make this a valid in my eyes under our rules. Staff discretion applies here regardless, and I believe the escalation and value of the item support permanent death. I wish Tables the best of luck in this appeal decision, and that's about it from me.

If the knowledge of the RP(Akira messing with the body) was gained incorrectly(Sergeant in plainclothes, participating in an event) I think the PK should also be invalidated since the RP isn't valid. Seems to me that, since Monaclu was in plain clothes and participating in an event, he was off-duty. The fact that he stumbled upon Akira doing what he was doing doesn't give him the right to actively participate in the scene. You could go as far and argue that reporting the scene was already beyond what the rules allow, but directly participating while off duty is definitely against the rules and should invalidate the whole RP.

Hey, I was the staff member who accepted the PK. So in this situation you refused to follow fearRP as you didn't comply with their demands to follow them into the alleyway when they had 3 guns on you. You had turned around and acknowledged the man behind you pointing a gun at you and still decided it was the best decision to become a deer in headlights and stare at the man and not do anything at all. Now what is iffy is the police situation. During the sit I had requested the POV from Psykho but for whatever reason I received no response. From the clip I was provided it was completely valid because you were in a yellow zone and they were attempting to drag you into a red. If we're speaking realistically Psykho wouldn't have the vision he had whilst he was third person in the vehicle and if he was first person he would have low visibility of the situation. during the sit I attempted to cover all bases but with the evidence I was provided it ended up being a PK, I had also asked for a second opinion from a Senior Admin and they had also agreed it was a PK on your behalf for not complying. Good luck on the appeal but as of now I see it as a valid situation

I was only aware of the initiation of the mugging at around 5-6 seconds into my clip, the timer for my compliance shouldn't start when you are aware of your intention to mug me separately from my own knowledge, but when I am aware of such. My window to comply at the start of my knowledge of the situation lasted ~4 seconds. You say the entire situation lasts 9-10 seconds, which may be true from your angle, but it is simply not true from my angle or my POV of the situation. My window to comply is from my perspective, not yours, and this must be taken into account. How am I supposed to comply with an initiation of a mugging I am unaware of? It doesn't matter that Danny Silvershine didn't know if it was a mugging or not, it matters that he was so close to it, he could both see and respond to the crime in a matter of seconds. "This can only be done when there is no one else around" (initiating a mugging), other people were around. You say that I claim the mugging took place in an invalid area generally, which is not true. Mugging is allowed where I was on the map, but my angle of approach on this point is that mugging is never allowed around uninvolved witnesses- regardless of whether or not it is in a red/yellow zone. You're missing my point, other people were around, period. You can even hear the sirens in my clip. You mention I was armed with a TEC-9 and could've used it/had an adequate window to try. You can see in my clip I never used the TEC-9 and even started to comply the moment I ended up being killed- obeying the command to "come back" by walking towards one of the muggers. To which I was shot. "You may only kill the victim if they DO NOT comply with your demands. Victims that comply are to be left unharmed." I complied, or at least tried to. I believe I have adequately addressed the issues in my mugging and resulting PK, I appreciate the response from you all so quickly, good luck maintaining your PK, but I genuinely believe you did a couple things wrong.

Beyond that, he helped me truly understand metagaming rules and server rules in general. I believe you are confusing this with staff punishment. Your character being PK’d is more or less an effect from your roleplay rather than staff punishment. Per the PK guidelines if you initiate a violent confrontation with officers you are subject to PK if you die. These guidelines are set in place to make sure your roleplay actions carry weight. Otherwise you could just shoot officers everytime they attempt to arrest you, effectively avoiding all charges While it is unfortunate you are unaware of this is something we don’t give second chances for, as it’s not staff punishment per se. I strongly recommend you read the guidelines surrounding PKs to familiarize yourself so you do not have to go through this again, or at least understand what could come from your actions.
