Hello, I was the staff member involved with your ban. I was presented a clip of you interacting with a police officer, where after he had asked you several times for your ID due to the gun on your back, you ran away from him. After he tried to tase you, you switched characters. LTARP, or Leaving to Avoid Role Play includes not only leaving the server, but leaving your character to avoid roleplay, which in this case was getting arrested. Upon taking a look at your ban & note history, I saw several bans and notes from this past year, with the last ban issued in June being for 2 weeks. It was clear to me that your behavior has evolved from simply ignorant rule breaking to intentionally manipulating game mechanics to avoid roleplay, so I issued a ban that I saw fit considering your history and the situation at hand. Best of luck on your appeal.

Hello, I am the banning moderator. From the information I was provided including clips and testimony from other individuals, you were attempting to glitch into the Police Department by sitting in the window and trying to jump through. Both that and the clip of you spawning inside of the Police Department, being chased by a cop with a taser, and then as soon as you see him you leave to go to another character was the primary reason for your ban. Coupled with both of those pieces of information, I checked your note history and you have a history of LTARP being warned by calink on the 25th of June. Best of luck on your appeal.

I believe that you misunderstand how the mugging works and how common sense works as well. Let's pose a scenario where I wanted to mug someone. The biggest concerns while mugging are (or at least SHOULD be) if I will be receiving a punishment through my crime family or through the police. Inherently, if you're reporting a mugging to either higherups in your faction or to the police, you have to DESCRIBE THE ASSAILANT. If I say, "A man who was wearing a white shirt and jeans mugged me!!!", then lo and behold, it's going to be almost impossible to find the person since that's just the default clothing. The same goes for real-life mugging, if I didn't want to be caught, I would probably put on something non-descript like a mask and black clothing so that it makes the police's job 100x harder to find me since half of the population walks around with that on everyday. Secondly, I don't really see the comparison with the precedent given. Racket Wars on Diverge Networks are just flat out unrealistic. The entire concept is that you walk up and kill someone so that you can have a more expensive drug, which goes on for hours on end. Additionally, this is only locked to certain groups of criminals at a time. The entire point of the Racket War is to open yourself up to police action in exchange for potentially getting a better drug to make more money. The reason it would be unfair to wear a white shirt during a Racket War is because the entire point of the event is to avoid getting caught while doing openly illegal things on the street. The exact opposite is true of mugging. The goal of mugging is to successfully take things off of a person in a private setting. The rules of mugging reflect this value of privacy during a mugging as they created a color-coded map to describe which places were private enough so that you could mug someone. The two functions of Diverge are opposite in their nature, and it's not really fair to compare the two. Anyways, -1 from me. People will complain until the day Diverge shuts down that mugging is either too lenient or too restrictive. Can't please them all.

-1 After doing a bit of my own research into previous bans as I truly don't recall many roleplay encounters I have had with you, I can't in good conscious recommend you for staff. I am all about second chances, but from your ban & note history, it seems like you've been given upwards of 30 by my count. The last note issued to you was in April, which leaves less than 3 months since your last infraction. I think this staff application would be different in many ways if this were made maybe 6 months since your last infraction or maybe even a year, but it seems that's not the case. I find it far-fetched that you are truly "reformed" after literal years of minging and rule breaking. Staff members are inherently the role models for how roleplay should be conducted on the server when it comes to behaving during roleplay and actually following the rules, and it seems like you are a sort of antithesis from the history I'm reading. Like I mentioned though, I don't know you. All of this information is simply the objective records of your history from the past. If people other than your minge friends can attest to your seriousness I may end up editing this post and changing my opinion, but until significant time has passed since your last infraction or enough people truly stick their neck out for you, I don't think you would be a good addition to the staff team.

+1 Well written application. In all honesty, I've seen people (including myself) accepted with playtimes of 2-3 days. In my opinion, as long as you have read and understand the rules, you are a good pick as staff. From what I can tell, you both have played Diverge for a while but also have read the rules. I look forward to seeing you on the staff team.

+1 Staple of Diverge's legal system. Not sure where we would be without him. No doubt in my mind he would make a great staff member.

In-Game Names: Taro "Mr. Red" Sugimoto, Public Defender Uros Vasic, Officer Nashoba C. Redfox Steam Name: Auxiliary Steam Profile Link: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198885641617/ Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:462687944 Discord Username: auxiliarypaper Age: 16 When did you first join the server: A little over a year ago. Total Playtime on the Server: 3w 3d 11h 50m Timezone: Eastern Standard Time (EST+0) How much time can you realistically dedicate to moderating?: 15-20+ hours every week. Have you read the rules?: I have. Do you have a working microphone?: I do, and I am willing to use it. Do you acknowledge that you must meet the weekly minimum ticket quota of 20 tickets? (Unless you have posted a valid LOA): I do. Are you familiarized with SAM and/or Nutscript commands?: I am. Do you acknowledge that lying on this application will result in immediate denial and blacklisting from staff?: I do. ================================================================================================================================= What is your motivation/reason for applying?: My main motivation for applying is stemmed from my previous experience of being staff on Diverge Networks. After leaving Diverge Networks for a month or two and now having been back for a little while, I've realized that I miss a lot of the responsibilities of being a staff member. From being on the staff team, I amassed a lot of knowledge of the server rules including some of the more niche/unwritten-though-enforced rules of Diverge that I can't really put to use since I'm not staff. Not only knowledge of the rules, but I greatly enjoyed the community interactions I had as a staff member that I see current staff members having, both through gamemaster events and standard enforcement of server rules. One of the stand-out features of being a staff member that I miss was dissecting the more general/vague parts of the rules and having debates in Staff Sits. The intricacy of the Diverge server rules is something that is outmatched on any other Garry's Mod server (that I've seen/read). Why should you be considered over other candidates?: I think some of my qualities that would put me above other candidates would be my knowledge of the server rules and experience as a staff member. From being staff on Diverge Networks, I have gained both knowledge and understanding of the server rules, both written and unwritten. Comparatively, to a candidate who has a lesser understanding of the rules, I would be able to handle situations more efficiently and with more accuracy in regards to my judgement. Secondly, to my experience as a staff member, I have both an understanding and a habit of handling situations involving staff members in a certain manner. Admittedly, being staff on Diverge Networks means that someone who think that you have wronged them by enforcing the rules aren't often able to listen to reason and often hurl insults and profanities when you inform them of a punishment or that they did something wrong. Having both experienced and navigated that aspect of being a staff member, I would be able to handle situations with a more calm demeanor & level head than a person who was inexperienced with staff interactions, leading to a more positive experience on both sides. Do you have any previous staffing experience? (Please list where, what position and how long): I have had several different experiences as staff on roleplay servers across the last ~5-ish years, but my most recent and relevant instance was as a Senior Moderator on Prometheus Networks for 7-8 months & being a Moderator on Diverge Networks for 3-4 months. Have you been banned before on any of our servers? If so, why?: I have never been banned on Diverge Networks. Would you say that you are well known in our community, what's your reputation, what do other members think of you?: I would say that I am decently well-known throughout Diverge, though I am most definitely not the most known. From the people I do know, I believe I have a good reputation. I am unaware of anybody that I have a poor relationship with. What is your favorite moment on Diverge so far?: I have a hard time picking out a specific moment on Diverge that is my "favorite moment", though I can say without a doubt one of my favorite experiences was the Valentine's Day Racket War a few months ago. Both the PvP coupled with strategy & playing with friends was a lot of fun and very rewarding when my faction was moved up in our racket. Have any staff members recommended you? If so, list their names: None to my knowledge. ================================================================================================================================= Someone RDM's and you are currently off-duty. How do you handle this?: I would start off by clipping the incident with Medal to have proof of the actual RDM. After I have situated the clip and trimmed it accordingly to highlight the incident that needs reporting, I would contact a fellow member of staff, showing them the clip I had gotten as evidence and ask them for a Staff Sit with myself, the staff, and the person who RDM'd me. I would ensure that I personally did not handle the situation myself to avoid any potential bias on my part, along with a proper explanation from a third party that was not involved in the incident in the case of any refreshers of server rules or, if warranted, any punitive action being taken. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: I would ensure every time I witnessed the abuse happen, I would gather appropriate proof of the incident (screenshots, clips, audio recordings, etc.). After witnessing the abuse occur, I would attempt to message them and ask what provoked these actions and what led them to abuse. After trying to gather more information, I would let them know/remind them that their actions would be considered abuse. If the member of staff genuinely seemed ignorant to the fact that their actions were abusive, I may hold off on reporting. Otherwise, if the staff member did not seem remorseful and seemed like they knew it was abuse already, I would show the evidence I collected to a member of staff higher than the individual, most likely a member of Upper Administration. I would continually record the evidence and submit it every time I witnessed it, repeating the process. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: Once I receive the ticket, I would start off as I usually would do with gathering the evidence and collecting each side's story of the situation. Considering that I would personally know this person in this situation, I would want to avoid any bias decisions or any accusations of being biased. To do this, I would contact another member of staff to get their opinion on the situation and get confirmation as to whether or not he/she thinks the claims are valid enough for punitive action. Once I've gotten a second opinion from another member of staff, I would either pass the situation off to them entirely, or proceed with punishment or lack thereof depending on the opinion given by the other member of staff. Thank you very much for your consideration of my application!

+1 One of the only people on Diverge that can ACTUALLY RP... Also would.
-
That would be possible, although there is literally one member of the Public Relations division and its the Chief of it.

+1 A certain SUB-division of the NYPD would be cool for Probation, but the issue I'm having is what the role of the Probation Officers would do. It sounds like to me that being a Probation Officer would just be another IA bureau to do a useless interview about whether or not a person is employed to a front-business for their mafia of choice. The only good roleplay that probation could make, in my opinion, adding a lot of time to their sentence to act as a sort of plea deal version of the Reoffender's Clause. If a person violates their probation, their full plea deal will have to be the amount of time charged in court, or if taken to court, their original charges plus 5 or 10 years to really make it sting when you fuck up on probation, which could often mean a life sentence for some people.

Process 1 brick of cocaine and your problem is solved.

Sounds like whole lot more lawyer/PD LARP to me! Court arguments about search and seizure rights if anyone is arrested with a bag on them, and it can function as a pseudo-gun bag for large guns, smaller handguns, or a shit ton of drugs. Not opposed at all, but it would have to make the person slower and make it super visible on their back to make it balanced for cops.

I see where you're attempting to prevent the PK hunting that does already exist, but I believe there's a much better medium rather than jumping straight to almost no risk on either side of a PK. I fail to see where mugging is balanced on the mugger's side however. Mugging is already restricted heavily in the rules, limiting mugging to only happen in certain areas and only to happen when someone is caught without a gun out in a private spot. On top of that, if the victim can find the mugger within 15 minutes with valid evidence of their identity, they are subject to a PK. As it stands, mugging for both sides is very risky. If anything, in my opinion, mugging is favorable towards the victim. An all-around deterrent of mugging is to simply have a weapon out in a yellow/red mugging zone, and that makes it so that it is impossible to be mugged. On top of that, if a mug is initiated, you have a chance to PK the person mugging you by breaking FearRP.
-
Neutral. I believe many, if not the entire community, has some sort of grievance with the current mugging system. I believe this suggestion to remove clothing mugging is a good idea and I can agree with that, but I fail to understand the thought process with removing and changing the FearRP aspect of mugging. From your FearRP changes that you're suggesting, it seems to me like you're attempting to make it so that it is physically impossible to prevent yourself from getting mugged once it has been initiated, while also removing all of the PK risk. Mugging is not necessarily an aspect of the server in order to be a primary way of making money, but to add a risk factor to the server, where slipping up in the wrong area could lead to you losing money or your life. From the way I am interpreting your suggestion, you are wanting to remove this risk factor almost entirely, only allowing for PK's to be administered when someone comes randomly to the defense of the victim of the mugging, which in my opinion will do nothing but encourage discord metagaming to prevent a mugging from occurring. The current mugging system is well balanced in my opinion. As a consequence for absent-mindedly walking through dangerous areas of crime ridden cities, you have some items robbed off of your character. If these items are imperative to your character or if they hold a high enough value, you actually have an opportunity to try and prevent them from being stolen, albeit you may be permanently killed for doing so. In my opinion, the mugging process itself is completely fine. The issue presented about mugging 99% of the time is that people get upset and claim that mugging once or twice a week is "minging" and "mugging abuse", and get upset when they're caught not being careful in bad areas. Changing the clothing aspect of mugging to increase realism would be a good change to roleplay in my opinion. Stripping people naked in alleyways is pretty unrealistic when you're trying to sell their clothes.
