It broke the immersion and made the roleplay feel unfair, which is disappointing since I’ve always tried to take RP seriously and stay true to my character. I’m not completely sure what the exact reasoning or orders behind my character’s death were, but based on what I’ve heard, it seems like it was influenced more by OOC stuff than anything that made sense IC. There wasn’t proper escalation, and it didn’t fit with my character’s story or any real conflict that would’ve justified it. Also, the player I believe was mainly involved has a history of causing or exaggerating drama and not being fully honest in past situations. so, it’s hard to see this as a fair or natural outcome of roleplay. tldr: we broke up and she got me killed for no reason

Right now, rumour is 60% saying retarded shit without facing RP consequences, and 40% being used properly. I think there could be a few ways to go about changing this. 1 - Its removal entirely, and adding a system similar to the city board for creating an actual marketplace for criminals, and then enabling OOC. (The OOC part is optional) 2 - Adding a cooldown, to incentivize using it for its intended purpose, and enforcing misuse 3- Creating a flag for it, and whenever someone misuses it, they lose access for x amount of time based on the severity of the punishment. It'll also make the server seem more serious to newer players, not seeing a glorified ooc chat going off with stupid messages 24/7

Hey guys, quick update. We've been listening to community feedback surrounding muggings these past few weeks, and in an attempt to reduce the amount of muggings we've removed all custom clothes from your inventories. This will deter criminals, because there's nothing to be gained.

PART ONE, Racket Perms. Revamped rebel posted something similar in his recent suggestion but I think it needs fleshed out and a place to be discussed separate to the conversations about RICO/FBI. For a long time people have racket abused and used gun rackets against faction rules for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's just for money and sometimes it's so that they can have easy access to guns for mugging. And while I believe the char play time restrictions help, I don't feel they are enough in some cases. Especially considering there is no way to track who ordered what by "asking the vendors" (viewing an IC shipment log), which could then be acted upon if faction rules were broken. Both the IC issue of ordering against factions rules (which makes no sense ICly for the vendor to go along with), and the OOC issue of racket abuse can be solved by giving factions the ability to control who can order what. This could be the faction only giving the perms to someone after a certain time period, or it could be based on ranks. Either way I see multiple major reasons factions should have control over this: TRUST; Trust is a massive thing within criminal organisations across the world. It only makes sense that a massive organisation would refrain from immediately allowing their newest members to have access to their arms/drug trafficking network, or at least the full extent of it. RACKET ABUSE; With the last set of racket changes, we had been seeing characters join into factions to gain access to the more sought after guns. While yes this is handled by staff, having this system in place would allow FLs to decide to stop ANYONE from ordering a gun they did not want to be ordered without their blessing. This would completely eliminate racket abuse. ROLEPLAY; Having less people who act erratically armed after just a week or so on the server would improve roleplay. Additionally if an associate had gotten his only couple of guns because he was given them by someone who trusted him, then he would be more hesitant to cause a gun fight and more likely to continue the confrontation with words or with melee weapons. It would also make being armed more of a status symbol. People would know you were either trusted by your organisation or had been around for long enough to get a gun on your own. This would all push for more melee brawls without completely reducing the amount of guns in the economy. I know a lot of people on here enjoy melee fights and that includes me. If there is RP involved I will choose to exclusively use melee against someone who is unarmed/only has melee. It would require a new UI that I will discuss in part 2 below. The ability to give permissions could be granted as a new flag that the FL could give (HC perms in the example image) or as a new addition to the already existing capo flag (pk perms). From an RP perspective I fully believe it makes sense, It's the equivalent of talking to your supplier/smuggler and giving instructions of who to provide product and receive payment from. People would be given perms to order specific weapons/drugs/attachments via one or a mix of these: 1- A full list of names, charIDs or preferably both that includes everyone who has been whitelisted. I believe this information is completely reasonable to be provided by the UI. 2- The list only shows the names of people that the person using the command has the F3 of. PART TWO, Faction Management System This is the main part of the suggestion and would be where the racket permissions are controlled, however it would also have additional faction management options. Things like unwhitelisting people, managing recruit/capo perms and the additional idea of managing access to faction WLed cars through it. Again the idea is that the FL could give perms to access the UI so that their HC/MC could give people more permissions/access as they climb the ranks. The UI for all of this would likely be based on the bank user management UI, however it'd be best if permission changes were saved upon closing the menu rather than it auto-closing after every change (as the bank one does). Most of this could stay the same aside from obviously changing what the permissions are. A secondary dropdown would be good for either giving permission for each individual weapon or for each type of weapon; pistol, shotgun, smg, rifle, class 4 Ultimately the form this is implemented in doesn't matter. It's just something that would allow faction leaders to have genuine control over their hard earner rackets.

I think realistically the lifeblood of restaurant RP isn't player characters being hungry - that maybe only applies to cops who come into the Blue Lobster for example as and when they need food. Most restaurant RP is players having arranged or impromptu dinners and meals with their families, crews, factions etc. Having accessible food vendors through the hotdog stands doesn't quell RP - if restaurants were the only source of good food then I'd argue it could do more harm than good, as people would spend more time in RP businesses during grinding gameplay loops when they probably aren't intending to RP. If I was trying to do a full table hosting roleplay and being constantly interrupted by players demanding food at the bar as quick as possible I'd find that frustrating. TL;DR - Removing or making hotdog vendors undesireable could push more non-RP to legal fronts

I think the flag option would be the best. People say stupid shit over rumour all the time because they think it's completely anonymous like staff can't see who is posting them. For example, last night I muted two people for saying "Askull is a lispy retard". Using OOC terms IC in a small group of people is one thing, but retards will use rumour to type stupid OOC shit to get attention from the majority of the server. If we had flags, this wouldn't be such an issue.

Make it so you can pass on your ownership / location of an active shipment to somebody else in the C menu. This opens up small RP / grinding opportunities for associates, who can get tasked with picking up packages for lazy bosses and risk death if they don’t bring the goods.

Im not one to bitch about people having fun. Im more of the person to let people just live their lives, its gmod, i understand this. BUT 1. Constant minge chars with zero RP that talk ooc constantly. I wrote the orders on you. first off, you retired over OOC shit saying Gmod isnt for you anymore before we could even ask you what was going on. We never gave you approval to retire. You just left. Weeks go by, and you are saying you want to come back, which means you havent been paying into anything for the weeks you left. Then you flat out told our Head Enforcer that if we dont let you back in you will mug or kill HC to get what you want. You said this in the city to him IC and it was clipped. Which is why we moved forward with the PK. You accept the risks of death when you enter this thing. There is even a little notification you agree to when you join.

People hate it because you can lose items and suffer character destruction. People are punished for breaking the rules around mugging (which there are many) because each mug and the context behind it is generally nuanced. Using it to target people for pks (engaging with it in bad faith) using alt characters to mug avoiding all risk, only mugging and not roleplaying as a symptom of dark rp brain. Mugging is an integral part of criminal aspects of the server and even as controversial as it is or has been it remains a part of the game, but it has recognizably flawed attributes which are mediated and covered by rules. (Circumventing roleplay and mass target mugging them in hopes they make a mistake and get penalized) The very nature and goal being to inflict harm and ruin the other persons roleplay. People will be understandably upset if they feel they were subject to unfair, ooc motivated, non rp driven targetting

Currently the warning you get when joining a Faction (shown below) is a blanket warning applying to all factions allowing no individuality in what factions stand for. What I am proposing is adding a box to this warning which the boss of each family can assign specific rules to which new recruits must agree to when joining a faction. This would allow factions to specify what they expect of their recruits so there's less surprise when people get PK'd for doing stupid shit. A few examples would be specifying that a certain faction doesn't allow mugging or allow drug trades etc etc.

Bean bag rounds can kill or maim someone. So if civs can use/access them specific regulations can and should apply. Like only being able to use it on private property or requiring to show ID. And obviously brandishing them would still have a legal penalty. Slightly changing the functionality of pre-existing mechanics would make more sense than giving civs access to a beanbag shotgun. Like making it so where if you smack someone with a gun or a baseball bat it stuns them for a second like the baton.

Right now if your bank is full and your inventory is full you have to drop something to make space in order to exchange items. The suggestion is to make similarly sized items replaceable with eachother. For example if you drag a hot dog on a can of coke they should change places in the inventory/bank.

Currently it isn't great having melee weapons in gun rackets when it comes to a money making angle. For example, our racket has fire axes that cost $1,000 to order. Even if we were to break even selling them, you can get 5-6 shovels for the same price as 1 axe and with zero wait. And there is still the same cooldown for melee weapons as if you were ordering back to back gun shipments. Most times people want alot of them in a short time for events. Also most people pass on buying them when they see the price, and we intentially set it higher than we would like to avoid large orders. My suggesstion would be to rebalance melee weapons in rackets in one or more of the following ways: - Make them near zero cost to order, so they can be offered at lower prices and still make a somewhat decent profit - Reduce the reordering cooldown significantly - Have all melee weapon shipments come with a larger amount(at least 5-10) Would be open to hearing other sugestions as well
