  1. In-Game Name(s): Shaniqua Buffalino/Terry Lawrence Steam Name: shauningt Steam Profile Link: https://steamcommunity.com/id/shauningt/ Steam ID: Steam_0:0:59300760 Discord Username: Shauningt Age: 24 When did you first join the server: January 2025 Total playtime on our Servers (Do !time in-game): 2 Months 5 Days 19 Hours 46 Minutes. Time Zone: UK GMT/BST How much time can you realistically dedicate to moderating?: 2/3 hours during the week, 4/5 hours on Saturday/Sunday Have you read the rules?: Yes Do you have a working microphone?: Yes Do you acknowledge that you must meet the weekly minimum ticket quota of 20 tickets? (Unless you have posted a valid LOA): Yes Are you familiarized with SAM and/or Nutscript commands?: No Do you acknowledge that lying on this application will result in immediate denial and blacklisting from staff?: Yes ------------------------------------------------- Long Answer What is your motivation/reason for applying?: * Being very honest my main motivation is to one day become a game master running small and medium sized scriptless events for players but to get there I understand what is expected, even when a gamemaster that being staff comes first. Outside of the long term goal, I would like to become a staff member to help with the community, often being on during low populated hours for the early morning UK folks to about midday where there isn't many staff members on. Along with this I would obviously also help in peak hours too. Having a staff member on during low populated hours though is useful for those who might experience issues that stop them coming back to the server. Overall my motivation stems from wanting to protect peoples experience, and improve their quality of experience while on the server. Why should you be considered over other candidates?: * Although I'm not experienced with SAM and/or Nutscript commands, I am willing to learn, and able to admit when I need help with something, rather than going rogue and trying to do my own thing. I also understand that there is a learning curve within these roles and won't get frustrated when decisions might be overturned by senior staff members too. I understand server rules and the importance of and how to expand player experiences alive. I would also listen when needed, but also push back and question why something may be happening if it seems wrong at the right time and place. When doing work I am resilient and also like to work to a high standard as I know my work represents me as a person as well, I'd rather be out there known to be doing high quality pieces of work even if that means that I'm taking my time when doing it and getting fully up to speed with what is needed to be a staff member. Do you have any previous staffing experience? (Please list where, what position and how long): I have previously been an event manager of the Stasis Starwars RP for a year from 2017-2018. Have you been banned before on any of our servers? If so, why?: No, I do have a couple of notes, for incidents being genuine mistakes that I have since learned from. Would you say that you are well known in our community, what's your reputation, what do other members think of you?: * I'd say that I am known in my circles, I would like to think that people see me as approachable and open to converse. When out and about in the city I try to show to respect to everyone, not starting beefs for no reason and even when presented with conflict I'd prefer to settle it with a talk rather than drawing guns. I'm gonna be honest too, theres a circle of people who I know don't like me, like to call me trans, etc., frankly I don't care about these comments and wouldn't let this get in the way of an unbiased view when staffing. When playing, my perspective is there being a split between my char and my actual self, so anything Shaniqua/Terry experiences is then separate from staff shauningt. As a staff member I'd rather have a reputation of being fair and unbiased, but also being a genuine help to anyone who opens a ticket no matter what faction they're in. What is your favourite moment on Diverge so far?: Since starting in January I've had plenty of laughs but also plenty of serious RP moments, one of which a small event that I coordinated within people of my faction. We organised for a high profiles member car to be taken (a character I was playing stole the car). We gathered all the active associates to then chase the car down without using guns and keeping the cops attention away from what was going on, the event ended with a hostage situation that was deescalated. It was a small event that didn't impact the wider server but it was fun for everyone who has involved, it was great getting associates involved with something that wasn't the usual grinding and put emphasis to RPing. Have any staff members recommended you? If so, list their names: Callink, Falcon ------------------------------------------------- Problem Solving Detail step by step exactly the actions you would take. Someone RDMs and you are currently off-duty. How do you handle this?: *Edit. Didnt answer my bad. Any issue that involves myself should be handled by another member of the team, meaning that the issue is looked out without bias, and removes the question of any vendettas, or abuse of power coming from a spur of the moment incident. I'd follow the usual process that any other player would do, making a ticket, presenting evidence and having a sit. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: The first step to this situation would be: First I'd start by reaching out for an informal chat either in game or on discord, just to check in that they know what theyre doing is wrong sorta thing, if what theyre doing is nothing too noticeable it might be that they thought what they were doing was okay, or they didn't realise it was having an impact on RP. If it were to continue I'd send them a message so the issue can be dated and can be in writing where we both acknowledge the situation in a paper trail, and if they continue there is evidence of them being told what they're doing is wrong. Continuing after this I'd prevent the evidence (clips, messages, etc.) to the chain of command to ensure that the right person is able to deal with the situation correctly, rather than publicly airing out any disputes this would be done privately between the accused, myself and the chain of command. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: There are two routes in this situation to take: Way 1 (less severe incidents): Deal with the ticket like any other ticket for this sort of infraction, if its minging, this would be dealt with on basis of the severity of minging, if they're just being annoying, doing the usual sit giving them a warning/note. For things such as RDM, again following the usual protocol of investigating the incident with clips, logs, etc and applying the correct punishment to the infraction they've committed. Way 2 (more severe incidents): If I know that I am going to have an extreme bias or trouble assessing the situation from the perspective of all parties I would either call in another moderator/senior staff for support and explain how my bias may be influencing a final outcome and ask for their opinion before committing to it. This means there is a less chance of an appeal if a third party has also been involved within the situation, although as a staff member myself I should be this third party myself, as previously stating, taking my character out of decisions and following the rules of the server equally for everyone as a staff member. ---------------------------------------------------------

  2. Hello, Once upon a time we removed the ability for properties to have food registers, in place of that we set up Shipment NPCs where people could order in food items (in bulk obviously), and then transport them to the property, and store them for selling to people. At the time, this was somewhat unpopular due to a few issues. Such as: - Storage entities were frequently being wiped, which would mean people would spend many hours organizing stock and arranging deliveries, just for it to be wasted. This is no longer an issue as storages permanently persist. - Having to have millions of storage lockers to store them in, making it difficult to effectively organize. - Lazyness. But this is a task that should be delegated to lower ranking members. - The old shipment system had dogshit configuration, so you couldn't order multiple at once. - Whatever else, it was years ago I don't remember. So we eventually reintroduced property vendors, but with a limit of 15 items. Today, I was reminded that we once had this system. Thinking about it, I realize that its reintroduction would come with many benefits, such as. - Not having to rely on me or Canadian to get on and change vendors when you want something changed. Which is a lengthy process, getting approval from FL, making the UA ticket then waiting for us to change it. - Being able to sell a wide range of food and drink items, instead of being limited to 15 pre-selected options. - Boost of available roleplay - new hires can be assigned as delivery boys, restaurants will have to organize their stock and have dedicated people managing it, ensuring supplies stay available, and much much more. We would make the following changes with this: - We would create a new type of storage item, that has a much larger inventory space, but in return it would only be able to store food items. Thus resolving the issue of having to have 100 storage items. - We would update the Shipment NPC UI to have organized categories so it isn't all cluttered together (like it is now). There would be tabs, nice and organized. - Shipment timing for food would also NOT be the same as drugs/guns. They would spawn immediately for collection. So I wanted to see what you all think - would this be something you'd like to see? I cannot see any real downsides to this, other than lazyness / not wanting to RP. But maybe there are some - so by all means let me know if there are. Or perhaps there are other things that would need to be done alongside what I have proposed. Either way, please let me know your thoughts.

  11. i think it should be looked at in a different way, not as a "practice" server but more as a fun little side server where u can have some down time, maybe even make it donator only to help w the costs! pvp has ALWAYS been seen in a very negative light in the rp space and for good reason but when it comes to it, its fun! i can PROMISE you, if it gets added NO ONE is going on there for 7 hours to "practice their gmod pvp", we already have 1942 rp for that lol, there are also 100x more effective ways to "practice" if your that dedicated to mafia pvp. it will most likely be used for friendly 1v1s or 2v2s ect ect! and at the end of the day, if u dont like the pvp dont join the pvp server! (if it gets added) ps, if it does become a thing, i would imagine it would be like the old pvp system with 3rd person and no recoil as that is what that majority of pvp enjoyers would prefer so you wouldnt even be "training" functional skills that you could bring over to the live rp server

  13. There are too many people who come to just 'fuck around'. Getting rid of it is counter-productive and will cause a great deal of upset players, I'd be upset if I got rdmed and was told no comp. People would claim bias, make staff reports and discord tickets and become a tedious rage farm. Getting rid isn't going to help rp. It'd promote negative behavior from a subset of the gmod population, 'i RDMed that guy with a class 4 dude! i killed 5 people with guns with my knife!', are we forgetting the most popular gmod videos are troll videos.. Guns are tied to players direct time, the time it took to get said item. For a new player this can be much greater, thus punishing new players exorbitantly and promoting bad play. There are many times a legitimate compensation should be in order, there are many times in low population time. People get RDMed, people don't get comped, or god forbid someone doesn't have medal running the background. The command has provisions, if someone gets a gun, its not a new gun. It's a gun they PREVIOUSLY had and it goes through a staff review process to deem if it's legitimate. It's not adding anything that wasn't there. In the few times it's used where it shouldn't be, it's either a mistake, staff abuse, or a common sense sympathy compensation. ( again not adding anything that wasn't there before. ) Further, the compensation command only compensates 1 random item, can't be spammed and can still lead to a net loss. What is best for players? Letting people lose their hard earned guns and their time, because rp? They needed to be MORE careful?! It's better for the economy this way? People would rightfully be pissed, feel cheated and it'd turn off a lot of people. -1

  14. Your Name: Evdigitydog SteamID: STEAM_0:0:11101 Staff Member involved: don't remember What was blacklisted from you?: Pet flags Reason for blacklist (if given): Prop flying/flinging abuse (not 100% sure) Why should it be returned?: I had 2 po’s for a miscommunication about setting up props to get around the 1 way fence from Ghetto to the npc from a few months ago after my first warn ( first warn was feb) I was later told it was fine so long as I did a /me by a staff member (I don’t remember who) but to my surprise I wasn’t allowed to do that resulting in my second po that I almost lost my pet flags on. Then about a week or two ago it was low pop on a weekday at 1 or 2 am and I was messing around with friends flinging them when my pet flags got removed. I understand why they were removed which is why I waited so long before appealing but I dont want to make it seem like I did no wrong thats not true but I believe that the offenses bad enough to result in a blacklist. Im sorry and wont repeat my actions.

  17. I always thought it would be nice to have a server that is sort of like the build server accept, its sole purpose would be for players to test out the different weapons on the server and generally practice pvp. This could also be good for reducing random gunfights happening when people get bored (iykyk). could also be good for events.

  22. +1 Arcw and gmod is very different from other games when it comes to guns, and it could be the default for queue so theres something to do while waiting to get in city. Especially during the 20 player queues that happen every once in a while. Keep the gamemodes to gun game, randomized weapons, or [class of weapon] randomized (i.e shotguns only) Also attachments should be disabled/ but even if there not it doesn’t rlly matter most of the time they wont be racket

  23. i understand the perspective and that everyone has their own preferences for gameplay- and im sure most of us have done something once or twice that wasn’t the most rp-inclined thing at an off hour. your example is a great one for why we shouldn’t get comfortable doing that on the server. i count multiple fresh to the city folk who have no idea what they’re doing and this probably isn’t the best precedent to set for them. as aforementioned i can only see it being used as a crutch for the people coming onto this server strictly to try and hone their skills, check weapon stats, etc- but additionally it would shell a chunk of the exchange that takes place between people and weapon stores. what’s the point of asking around for what weapons and attachments are good if you just get told ‘bro….. just go on the ffa server and find out’. optimistically an outlet would still be nice. as much as i personally don’t like the idea, the build server could realistically be able to host a more sandbox setting where people can switch between pvp/build modes. in prevention of people trying to min/max the shit out of an IC weapon build; every single weapon would likely need to be modified in movement, damage, RoF, recoil, draw, etc- until its marketably unrecognizable compared to the main server weapons. (i love your optimism, but there are definitely people trying that hard. we have some real urchins around here if you look for them) it seems like it may be more hassle than it’s worth when we could just get GMs to break up the monotony for people looking for a breather from the RP with more occasional events. it really depends though, because i could also see a big enough chunk of people wanting something like this to make it happen

  24. gmod nutscript pvp has a lot of its own niches, hylics had a pvp server while it started out and it was insanely fun! i think it would be really fun for a more casual server (all ooc of course) where u can just do ffa and chill yk? gamers will always have the urge to shoot each other, having a server where u can do this instead of doing in the streets would be very beneficial to the rp, im definitely guilty of this of running 1v1s in city and understand it can disturb the rp, see the start of this clip for example https://medal.tv/games/garrys-mod/clips/llbfZ8EZLxJzmeZvb. I think its a good idea and the only downsides would be server costs and moderation

  26. To better reflect the state of tech, and keep up with the fact that our electronics store clearly shows we have quite the selection (I know the tech is more modern than it should be, I’m big on imagination like the rest of you!) we should be able to buy and set up laptops or desktop computers. We are right on the cusp of the World Wide Web; and nearing that advent, there should be a heavily trafficked and healthy user base of people on Usenet. Not sure how technically complicated but once placed, it becomes a terminal for Usenet which essentially just acts as a newsgroup for Southside. An in character precursor to forums that people can post on, message each other, and exchange information anonymously underground. Maybe give people the ability to make a front page or homepage for their own info board. Nothing you post can be used to 100% tie to your identity or be used to incriminate you as people could make fake profiles of each other and at this point in time, law enforcement does not have a heavy tech department or the right to violate the privacy of citizens by investigating or confiscating their machines like post-9/11. Metagaming and OOC in IC would of course not be allowed, it will be fully in character. Let me know how retarded I am or if this is a decent idea, pimps.

  27. I Understand this, and obviously this Going in "Gung Ho" was not my intention, as I did not even have a weapon equipped. as soon as we approached the door opened and we were placed under duress with no chance, or attempt from the others at de-escalation. Even so, the cops immediately fired. Neither my partner or i Initiated the shootout. The rules clearly state this is not valid because the police not only Initiated, but escelated the situation. you can see the exact quote of the full rule in the image attached above

  34. So there's private security companies and bail bonds companies in the city but they only have lethal options at the present moment. Obviously these companies are expected to subdue people non-lethally. The tazer would help accomplish this and it would be cool if you could instantly or more quickly restrain someone who is tazed. Further, if a tazer is unavailable or too expensive etc it might make sense to make it such that if you take a certain level of bludgeoning melee damage (not slash or stab damage as that's simply more lethal) that you could get knocked out. If you're knocked out either you could be in a stunned state or simply fall over like a tazer would do. In either case it would also be ideal to allow people to be tied up in this state. I do already see a problem with the falling over thing where it might bypass the AFK timer? Just pointing out things as they come to mind. TLDR you need the right tool for the job and you don't always need to beat someone to death or shoot them for that matter. Instead of NLRing people who antagonize your business you could beat their ass and kick them to the curb.

  36. It'd be a cool little layer of roleplay to have the ability to have your driver's license suspended or revoked due to criminal actions involving your vehicle, and for that to be displayed on your driver's license just like the felony tracking. Further, tickets being paid to police and having all this weird out of game tracking is just fucking weird. I'm not saying make a darkrp tool, but like we could make a ticket pad that gives out the ticket and fine using drop menus, give the player an actual item to go take to the desk sgt, and pay directly. If the player fails to pay the ticket, their license gets suspended. Traffic offense rp is basically fucking retarded most of the time since you go to write the ticket out of game and by the time youre done they just leave or run you over or some other gay nonsense to the point its not fun. The cops often abuse it since there is very little auditing of the system, etc. Its just not realistic or fun as it currently is laid out. For tickets that are gonna be contested, when writing the ticket the officer simply puts down a brief summary on the ticket, when + where + etc and then if you want to contest that you can make a ticket on the discord. Lotta rp can be brought from this change. Oh and active warrants should appear on your license to officers and government officials (not random players for the purpose of the surprise of it)/

It does state in the staff handbook we’re not required to comp at all even for RDM or VDM, unless its something completely out of control like a server bug, weapon comps are staff discretion. I should stop comping people just so theyre more careful
