In-Game Name(s): Andrew Spencer, Marko "Polo" Medici, Mateo "Chaser" Nazario, Katsu "Mazo" Kane Steam Name: BritishBarry Steam Profile Link: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199013715905/ Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:526725088 Discord Username: BritishBarry Age: 20 When did you first join the server: 2021 i think Total playtime on our Servers (Do !time in-game): 2 months 3 weeks 2 days 7 hours Time Zone: GMT / BST How much time can you realistically dedicate to moderating?: A few hours a day Have you read the rules?: Yes Do you have a working microphone?: Yes Do you acknowledge that you must meet the weekly minimum ticket quota of 20 tickets? (Unless you have posted a valid LOA): Yes Are you familiarized with SAM and/or Nutscript commands?: No Do you acknowledge that lying on this application will result in immediate denial and blacklisting from staff?: Yes ------------------------------------------------- Long Answer Questions proceeded with an asterix require a response of 3 Sentences Minimum. What is your motivation/reason for applying?: Having been a member of the community for a while, I've often thought about joining the staff team. Now that my time has freed up as I am no longer staff on any other servers, I'm eager to dedicate my time and effort to Diverge. I have always enjoyed my time on this server and want to contribute the community. I believe that I can help bring a positive and welcoming feel to the server for new players by stopping rulebreakers and hopefully preventing future ones. Why should you be considered over other candidates?: I have previous work as a staff member on many servers in the past and I know the ins and outs of general staffing. My time spent on the server along with having to read over the rules quite a few times due to my recent misunderstandings have led to a good knowledge of the server rules. On top of this, I am an active player; meaning that I will be able to dedicate a good amount of time to staffing and the server as a whole. Do you have any previous staffing experience? (Please list where, what position and how long): CivilNetworks - I was staff here for around a year and got to Senior Moderator, Icefuse - I was also staff here for around a year and also got to senior moderator; which is about the same as an admin in most servers , Multiple DarkRP servers that I can't recall - Multiple servers but I think the highest I got was assistant community manager or something along those lines. Have you been banned before on any of our servers? If so, why?: I have been banned a few years back for item transfer however I learned from my lesson and haven't gone near it ever since. Would you say that you are well known in our community, what's your reputation, what do other members think of you?: I would like to say Andrew Spencer is well known in the community as he has been a cop for about 4 years now. Depending on who you ask my reputation may be good or bad, mostly because of people's individual thoughts on my characters. I hope that the majority of the people I talk to think that I am an alright person and I know that the majority of them think i'm tolerable at least. What is your favourite moment on Diverge so far?: That would likely be meeting cool people and making new friends, the best part about this server is being able to have fun whilst being able to bump into people and have a laugh whilst grinding away. Have any staff members recommended you? If so, list their names: N/A ------------------------------------------------- Problem Solving Detail step by step exactly the actions you would take. Someone RDMs and you are currently off-duty. How do you handle this?: If I was the one who got RDMed I would make a ticket as per usual; however if it was somebody else and I witnessed them get RDMed, I would tell them to make a ticket and explain to them how if they don't already know. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: Clip each occasion and report it to somebody who is of higher rank than myself. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: I would not take the ticket as it could possibly come across as bias, I would instead inform other staff members that I can't take it and explain why.3 points

i understand the perspective and that everyone has their own preferences for gameplay- and im sure most of us have done something once or twice that wasn’t the most rp-inclined thing at an off hour. your example is a great one for why we shouldn’t get comfortable doing that on the server. i count multiple fresh to the city folk who have no idea what they’re doing and this probably isn’t the best precedent to set for them. as aforementioned i can only see it being used as a crutch for the people coming onto this server strictly to try and hone their skills, check weapon stats, etc- but additionally it would shell a chunk of the exchange that takes place between people and weapon stores. what’s the point of asking around for what weapons and attachments are good if you just get told ‘bro….. just go on the ffa server and find out’. optimistically an outlet would still be nice. as much as i personally don’t like the idea, the build server could realistically be able to host a more sandbox setting where people can switch between pvp/build modes. in prevention of people trying to min/max the shit out of an IC weapon build; every single weapon would likely need to be modified in movement, damage, RoF, recoil, draw, etc- until its marketably unrecognizable compared to the main server weapons. (i love your optimism, but there are definitely people trying that hard. we have some real urchins around here if you look for them) it seems like it may be more hassle than it’s worth when we could just get GMs to break up the monotony for people looking for a breather from the RP with more occasional events. it really depends though, because i could also see a big enough chunk of people wanting something like this to make it happen3 points

Hey, banning staff here. Your meditation roleplay could have easily been continued elsewhere in the building and instead was carried out as close as you could get to their building, at full volume, during an event. After a PM saying move it and turn it down, I deleted your first hifi playing yoko ono earrape. This was after the sit which I explained the other side's perspective and why you were being inconsiderate; you were adamant that you didn't care and that your meditation roleplay (sitting afk while music blares at an event next door) was more important. You also insisted I should "Keep deleting the hifis for content" after deleting the first. You place another hifi blaring music and I banned you for no intent to roleplay. You ruined the experience for others via your hifi and the rule that you're violating is "Be mature and responsible with it, if you are found abusing it, it will be removed" after I fairly removed your hifi, you placed another and hurt the roleplay of those around you, showing your lack of interest for roleplay and highlighted your need for attention. I do not feel my ban was unjust, hope this clears it up. Good luck on your appeal3 points

Hello, Once upon a time we removed the ability for properties to have food registers, in place of that we set up Shipment NPCs where people could order in food items (in bulk obviously), and then transport them to the property, and store them for selling to people. At the time, this was somewhat unpopular due to a few issues. Such as: - Storage entities were frequently being wiped, which would mean people would spend many hours organizing stock and arranging deliveries, just for it to be wasted. This is no longer an issue as storages permanently persist. - Having to have millions of storage lockers to store them in, making it difficult to effectively organize. - Lazyness. But this is a task that should be delegated to lower ranking members. - The old shipment system had dogshit configuration, so you couldn't order multiple at once. - Whatever else, it was years ago I don't remember. So we eventually reintroduced property vendors, but with a limit of 15 items. Today, I was reminded that we once had this system. Thinking about it, I realize that its reintroduction would come with many benefits, such as. - Not having to rely on me or Canadian to get on and change vendors when you want something changed. Which is a lengthy process, getting approval from FL, making the UA ticket then waiting for us to change it. - Being able to sell a wide range of food and drink items, instead of being limited to 15 pre-selected options. - Boost of available roleplay - new hires can be assigned as delivery boys, restaurants will have to organize their stock and have dedicated people managing it, ensuring supplies stay available, and much much more. We would make the following changes with this: - We would create a new type of storage item, that has a much larger inventory space, but in return it would only be able to store food items. Thus resolving the issue of having to have 100 storage items. - We would update the Shipment NPC UI to have organized categories so it isn't all cluttered together (like it is now). There would be tabs, nice and organized. - Shipment timing for food would also NOT be the same as drugs/guns. They would spawn immediately for collection. So I wanted to see what you all think - would this be something you'd like to see? I cannot see any real downsides to this, other than lazyness / not wanting to RP. But maybe there are some - so by all means let me know if there are. Or perhaps there are other things that would need to be done alongside what I have proposed. Either way, please let me know your thoughts.2 points

Your Character or Steam Name: Jimry Waladang Your SteamID: STEAM_0:0:867514527 Your Discord ID#: 1147514403013541908 Reason for ban: Allegedly Hacking Length of ban: Was a year but now permanent Reason for appeal (dispute/apology): both? Why should you be unbanned? I want to begin this section of my ban appeal application by saying that I am sincerely sorry for my actions and apologies if I negatively impacted the experience of my fellow players as this was never my intentions. The incident that led to me receiving my ban should have never took place and I am sorry it did the individual that I blicked was punch midging and I felt it necessary to stop him however this was wrong and I should have contacted an admin. While attempting to blick the midge I also hit two nypd officers on patrol merking one I will note that all three people were hit with a single burst three round burst from a Beretta 93R produced from 1979-1993 manufactured in Gardone Val Trompia, Italy firing each bullet at 1,200 ft/s with two of the people hit being 400ft away and out of my view from me with the the bullets from my Beretta 93R reaching them in 0.33 seconds I believe it was this combined with the prefectly placed head shots that lead the admins and my fellow players to believe I was "aimboting" when brought to the admin sit I demonstrated my top tier aim again merking two people however this was done in an effort to demonstrate that I was not hacking but simply top tier but after my demonstration I felt as if I had possibly embarrassed my fellow players by completely out pointing them and so I made a decision that would result in my ban I lied and admitted to hacking in order to preserve the gameplay experience of my fellow players this was wrong and I am sorry if allowed back I will commit my self to restricting my ability to launch projectiles propelled by pressures generated from the combustion of virtual gun powder caused to combust by the hammer of the Beretta 93R striking the firing pin causing the primer on the 147 grain of the 9mm cartridge to ignite at my fellow players in order to preserve the gameplay experience of the server. I am sorry for my actions and would like the opportunity to demonstrate my ability's to restrict my ability's and participate in cosa nostra roleplaying activity's and enjoy the compony of my fellow cosa nostra roleplay coinsures. i think it should be looked at in a different way, not as a "practice" server but more as a fun little side server where u can have some down time, maybe even make it donator only to help w the costs! pvp has ALWAYS been seen in a very negative light in the rp space and for good reason but when it comes to it, its fun! i can PROMISE you, if it gets added NO ONE is going on there for 7 hours to "practice their gmod pvp", we already have 1942 rp for that lol, there are also 100x more effective ways to "practice" if your that dedicated to mafia pvp. it will most likely be used for friendly 1v1s or 2v2s ect ect! and at the end of the day, if u dont like the pvp dont join the pvp server! (if it gets added) ps, if it does become a thing, i would imagine it would be like the old pvp system with 3rd person and no recoil as that is what that majority of pvp enjoyers would prefer so you wouldnt even be "training" functional skills that you could bring over to the live rp server2 points

To the Don has an additional 1 month 2 week. Do you acknowledge and agree to all faction rules as detailed on the server rules page? (Yes/No): Yes. Do you acknowledge that your faction discord will be owned by us? (Yes/No): Yes Provide an example of the unique Roleplay your faction will bring to the server/what type of roleplay we can expect from your faction (Images/Videos Preferred): https://docs.google.com/document/d/17ERUGKLb3udpWeT4jnk_XGnndUrPlhoKA2vJrvxRFRc/edit?usp=sharing Provide examples or event ideas to promote activity within your faction and keep people interested. (Reference your unique RP from the question above): In the Kinahan we plan to open a good ol’ Irish Pub called “The Rusty Shamrock”, at least that was the name of the Pub we had back In Dublin. This allows us to not only have a good experience for the citizens of New York as they come through and get a drink, but lets us operate behind the scenes, doing deals, having sit-downs, and having that Irish private experience behind closed doors. Running the day-to-day of the Pub will be nice and time consuming for our Hangaround and lower members. In addition to the Pub and its dealings, The Kinahan also prides Itself on Its Independence, being made up of surviving members of the IRA and families who were victimized by the Orange Order. As such, we don’t tolerate being controlled or bottle-necked by other factions. Compared to your usual “Italian” group, we don’t just sit behind closed doors and complain, we get out there, we get our hands dirty, and most of all we’re not going to be quiet about it. The Kinahans are a group that won’t take shit, and aren’t afraid to receive it. We’ll frequently get our boys together to trash stores owned by people who’ve disrespected us, key their cars, and do everything we can to drive them mad until they’re ready for an ol’ Irish Shootout (aka we’re firebombing ya and lighting you up with AK’s, up the RA). As for event Ideas there are plenty of things we can do for our boys to keep them engaged. Being an Irish faction we can "Receive shipments of weapons” from the IRA, or even hold mini Racket Events (Context: NOT that racket change event you guys had recently) where they encourage members to bring in the most money they can to support our efforts with the IRA. Another type of event we can hold is a good ol’ drinking contest. We can work this into a variety of ways, maybe things like “Fastest while Drunk, Longest police chase while drunk” Etc. At the end of the day, the Kinahan Clan Is a brotherhood that prides Itself on Independence and not taking shit from any group or party, and we’ll do everything to remind our remembers that so long as we have one another, the Kinahan Clan won’t be suppressed or put-out by anyone. Tiocfaidh ár lá - "Our Time Will Come" Organization Backstory (Min. of 250+ Words & any images): By the mid-1980s, Dublin was on edge. You could feel it in the air—the city was changing, the streets harder, more desperate. Christy Kinahan wasn’t a stranger to those streets. Raised in the rougher parts of Dublin, Christy wasn’t born into anything but struggle. He’d seen the kind of life most people couldn’t imagine. But it was a life that shaped him. A life where the only way out was to get your hands dirty and never look back. At first, it was small. Christy wasn’t from some big crime family—he was just a man with an eye for an opportunity. When the drugs started hitting Dublin in the '80s, he wasn’t one to shy away from the chance. Hashish, cocaine—it wasn’t glamorous, but it paid. And by ‘86, Christy was already working his way through the supply lines, moving product quietly but steadily. He didn’t need the spotlight. In fact, he avoided it. Christy knew how to keep his head down while other guys were out there making noise. He worked with the old-timers in the city—dock workers, shady business owners, the kinds of people who knew how to get things done under the radar. But by 1989, Christy wasn’t just sticking to Dublin anymore. He’d started making connections outside the city, talking to people who could help him spread his reach. He wasn’t just about the street trade anymore. The Kinahans were starting to grow, quietly, strategically. Money started moving through other businesses—construction firms, bars, shipping docks. It wasn’t the kind of work anyone would ever boast about, but it was the kind that kept the empire alive, building piece by piece. The real shift came when Christy took it international. The early ‘89s were when the game changed. Christy made his move with European and South American cartels, controlling the cocaine flow into Europe.1 point

Encouraging roleplay from the bar. "Patched" equivalent members, those who have already earned their colors, will drive low riders through the streets, listening to music, doing drugs, living life to its fullest. We really want to emphasize on the stereotypical pimp lifestyle, nice suits, big coats, lowriders, gambling, drugs and who could forget jewelry? Not only would our Faction sling drugs and hold big guns, but fashion is what makes a pimp! Spending our hard earned dough on whatever jewelry and nice suits we can get our hands on. Holding an event coined "The Velvet Stroll" in which contestants get voted on for their outfits, and the winner wins a prize of clothing or stone cold cash. For clarity purposes, we do not plan on doing any sexual roleplay, we simply like the style and RP of a pimp. Provide examples or event ideas to promote activity within your faction and keep people interested. (Reference your unique RP from the question above): As said above, we are going to have the Velvet Stroll event, as well as a colors ceremony, to add some good Rp to the ranking process, each influential rank up will come with an event in said person's name, alcohol, drugs, all the good things every Pimp looks forward to. Organization Backstory (Min. of 250+ Words & any images): The year is 1967, an Afro-Mexican American man named Silky Ray Gonzalez and a couple of buddies were at their local jazz bar, a restitute for men of he and his brother's color. He never found himself selling dope with his buddies, making some money on the side whenever their jobs didn't pay them enough. Soon, they opened a business selling their roster out of a motel room, they were making more money than they ever had, selling drugs and selling time was more profitable than they could ever imagine, they quit their jobs and went crooked for good. Things were going relatively well for the men, they began spreading their wings with the newfound income, spending money on suits that would draw attention from anyone, from dark purples to light pinks, leopard print to zebra print. They were rolling in it, and new members were appearing every week. They ran several underground gambling and escort rings, out of the very Jazz bars that they took refuge in. By 1973, whenever Cocaine and Heroin made its way to New York. business was better than ever. They began buying out nightclubs and record labels, anything to get them more money. Greed got to Silky Ray, all of his lavish living style caught up to him, he got caught for Money Laundering in 1976, and later died in prison in 1978, murdered by another inmate. That marked the end of Pimp's Paradise, jackets left behind, most of their businesses being sold off, the remaining members leaving with what money they could get out of it. Now, Silky Ray's illegitimate son with one of the escorts, wants to recreate his father's empire, after years of his own experience.1 point

need a button or command that disables myself from hearing hifis/cassette players/the piano. Server has gotten pretty autistic with the music and having to hit my stop sound bind is getting ridiculous. pls fix the server thanks1 point

I always thought it would be nice to have a server that is sort of like the build server accept, its sole purpose would be for players to test out the different weapons on the server and generally practice pvp. This could also be good for reducing random gunfights happening when people get bored (iykyk). could also be good for events.1 point

Police should already be tasked with doing this under the IC notion of cleaning up a crime scene and collecting evidence. Police literally do this detail IRL. No faction or citizens should be tasked with it. Just another lazy, retarded, and typical instance that highlights lack of attention to detail by half-ass PD mains who totally aren’t just pussies afraid of losing a real character that are allergic to RP.1 point

The building next door also plays music all day and we don't complain, its New Jersey, it's loud. I'm not sure how deep NITRP here goes, but there is clearly need for clarification within staff regarding, uh. noise complaints, i guess. but 2 days with no priors seems excessive on the surface, also; i like to play music in the same location and don't want to deal with something like this.1 point

gmod nutscript pvp has a lot of its own niches, hylics had a pvp server while it started out and it was insanely fun! i think it would be really fun for a more casual server (all ooc of course) where u can just do ffa and chill yk? gamers will always have the urge to shoot each other, having a server where u can do this instead of doing in the streets would be very beneficial to the rp, im definitely guilty of this of running 1v1s in city and understand it can disturb the rp, see the start of this clip for example https://medal.tv/games/garrys-mod/clips/llbfZ8EZLxJzmeZvb. I think its a good idea and the only downsides would be server costs and moderation1 point

yes but were not just gonna go around the city just cleaning up random messes if you go around right now there is blood, chalk lines in so many spots blood spills from SOOO LONG AGO yeah they have clean up crews for their own independent killings but just casually cleaning things they haven't caused? no Even still i dont know the legality of cleaning a scene thats old, could be illegal ICly and this change could add towards citizen role with a new job role to manage these cleanings potentially simple answer could be PD stepping it up cleaning up the scenes after theyre done with them or finding them naturally, perhaps PD gets a simple 100$ per blood spilled bam ez pz1 point

Im skeptical to this, as the other day I spoke to the Takahashi don about this concept. At no point did he mention it's already a thing. The command imo should stay as it provides coverage for when mass RDMers come through town - but if the argument is about how overused it is by staff for players etc, then thats a different story. As it stands, like Cal said, it should be the case of if you want a Comp, the person who killed you, friend or not, will HAVE to get punished. Now whether or not this happens as it should, again different story. But making some guns uncompable would make it very risky, but given how often VDMing and RDMing happens, i feel it would give more of a headache to the masses in the long run. If it comes to also negating the immediate escalation to weaponry - then like pendred suggested else where having delays in pulling guns out should make it better. Someone else suggested (i think cookies) the usage of automated /mes which would go in hard and be a great foundation for RP improvement too. All in all, keeping the command is definitely fundamental but how its used and what goes on around/before the usage of that command is even more important and should be addressed for the "overuse" of comps is just a symptom imo.1 point
-
Yeah no one is getting comped for failing a gun fight, or RP escalation, I have literally never seen a ticket that suggests someone's tried to either This suggestion also doesn't consider actual RDM or VDM at all It's not whether you should 'consider the weight of drawing your weapon' when you get ran over from behind at mach speed by a random white shirt You're locked in on the specific instance of RDM baiting, that's not enough grounds to remove a system that is 99% of the time used for completely different scenarios -1 Terrible suggestion1 point

After looking at logs, it looks like you were damaging the cop with your car first which caused him to shoot you to which ran him over to slam and kill him. Now even if he shot you first you cannot abuse the ragdoll physics in any way (Such as slamming someone on the ground or on a car to kill them). This happening right after you got out of a sit for a similar reason and based on your recent history I think 24 hours is a fair ban. Your ban appeal has been reviewed and denied. It would be pretty cool if when a char was pked a screen would appear / menu would be able to be opened to show that chars stats. Like if after it shows your name with the dates you were able to see your actions and such. In my eyes these would include Pks done by you, overall kills, deaths, time played on that char and just a random little title for your stats. By title I mean if someone had an absurdly negative k/d it would be like Hospitals number one patient or if alot of time played it would be no-life. I could see there being issues with past events and stats being loaded since the amount of time and how old log wipes are handled. Overall could just be a cool little thing for people to brag and show off.0 points

There are too many people who come to just 'fuck around'. Getting rid of it is counter-productive and will cause a great deal of upset players, I'd be upset if I got rdmed and was told no comp. People would claim bias, make staff reports and discord tickets and become a tedious rage farm. Getting rid isn't going to help rp. It'd promote negative behavior from a subset of the gmod population, 'i RDMed that guy with a class 4 dude! i killed 5 people with guns with my knife!', are we forgetting the most popular gmod videos are troll videos.. Guns are tied to players direct time, the time it took to get said item. For a new player this can be much greater, thus punishing new players exorbitantly and promoting bad play. There are many times a legitimate compensation should be in order, there are many times in low population time. People get RDMed, people don't get comped, or god forbid someone doesn't have medal running the background. The command has provisions, if someone gets a gun, its not a new gun. It's a gun they PREVIOUSLY had and it goes through a staff review process to deem if it's legitimate. It's not adding anything that wasn't there. In the few times it's used where it shouldn't be, it's either a mistake, staff abuse, or a common sense sympathy compensation. ( again not adding anything that wasn't there before. ) Further, the compensation command only compensates 1 random item, can't be spammed and can still lead to a net loss. What is best for players? Letting people lose their hard earned guns and their time, because rp? They needed to be MORE careful?! It's better for the economy this way? People would rightfully be pissed, feel cheated and it'd turn off a lot of people. -10 points

If you are a staff member and you comp every ticket you get you should not be a staff member The best immediate answer is staff training and punishments for staff who are too lazy to investigate tickets fully- including not noting perps of rulebreaks0 points
