From what I saw, it felt like the players involved acted out of OOC frustration or personal issues instead of their characters’ actual motives. It broke the immersion and made the roleplay feel unfair, which is disappointing since I’ve always tried to take RP seriously and stay true to my character. I’m not completely sure what the exact reasoning or orders behind my character’s death were, but based on what I’ve heard, it seems like it was influenced more by OOC stuff than anything that made sense IC. There wasn’t proper escalation, and it didn’t fit with my character’s story or any real conflict that would’ve justified it. Also, the player I believe was mainly involved has a history of causing or exaggerating drama and not being fully honest in past situations. so, it’s hard to see this as a fair or natural outcome of roleplay. tldr: we broke up and she got me killed for no reason

Hello, Once upon a time we removed the ability for properties to have food registers, in place of that we set up Shipment NPCs where people could order in food items (in bulk obviously), and then transport them to the property, and store them for selling to people. At the time, this was somewhat unpopular due to a few issues. Such as: - Storage entities were frequently being wiped, which would mean people would spend many hours organizing stock and arranging deliveries, just for it to be wasted. This is no longer an issue as storages permanently persist. - Having to have millions of storage lockers to store them in, making it difficult to effectively organize. - Lazyness. But this is a task that should be delegated to lower ranking members. - The old shipment system had dogshit configuration, so you couldn't order multiple at once. - Whatever else, it was years ago I don't remember. So we eventually reintroduced property vendors, but with a limit of 15 items. Today, I was reminded that we once had this system. Thinking about it, I realize that its reintroduction would come with many benefits, such as. - Not having to rely on me or Canadian to get on and change vendors when you want something changed. Which is a lengthy process, getting approval from FL, making the UA ticket then waiting for us to change it. - Being able to sell a wide range of food and drink items, instead of being limited to 15 pre-selected options. - Boost of available roleplay - new hires can be assigned as delivery boys, restaurants will have to organize their stock and have dedicated people managing it, ensuring supplies stay available, and much much more. We would make the following changes with this: - We would create a new type of storage item, that has a much larger inventory space, but in return it would only be able to store food items. Thus resolving the issue of having to have 100 storage items. - We would update the Shipment NPC UI to have organized categories so it isn't all cluttered together (like it is now). There would be tabs, nice and organized. - Shipment timing for food would also NOT be the same as drugs/guns. They would spawn immediately for collection. So I wanted to see what you all think - would this be something you'd like to see? I cannot see any real downsides to this, other than lazyness / not wanting to RP. But maybe there are some - so by all means let me know if there are. Or perhaps there are other things that would need to be done alongside what I have proposed. Hello all, I've discovered kind of a loophole to the whole "Don't work with police, but making statements to cops is fine" pk rules. The current rule states: Which, on its face seems entirely fine. But since we're on the federal rules of evidence in the courts, it creates a stark, immediate issue. Originally, Hearsay was much more restricted. So, a cop hearing a victim say "Hey man that guys stealing my car" (this was a case against me i'm referencing here, guys already dead in an unrelated pk), the officers *can* include that in their affidavits to prove that the victim did have a crime committed against them. So, the current rule being that reporting a crime isnt enough; reporting the crime actually *is* enough to prosecute someone. Their statements can be considered testimony under two rules: FRE 803(1) FRE 803(2) These rules state that hearsay is acceptable and admissible in court if it is: (1) - Present Sense Impression: A statement describing or explaining an event or condition, made while or immediately after the declarant perceived it. (2) - Excited Utterance - A statement relating to a startling event or condition, made while the declarant was under the stress of excitement that it caused. So what does this mean for criminals? Someone yelling out "Officer this guy just killed someone" or "Officer, that guy stole my car" or "Officer he has a gun on him!" is ALL admissible in court. It's all usable. The person need not testify, that *is* usable by the officers' testimony. And the courts can, and always have had the capacity, to convict someone under a singular affidavit (which is debatable considering a previous precedent, but could still reasonably happen right now). My suggestion is very easy to understand. A new addition to the rule. A "Duty to contest". It works very simply. Joe Mecli, a civilian, witnesses someone shoot a guy. He yells out "Officer, that guy shot someone" when he sees a cop, who was not a witness to the actual crime. The officer, having heard the blast, arrests the guy on attempted murder charges or some other charges related (Discharge, Unlawful conduct, yadayada). Well now criminal guy Joe Gambino is in a dicey situation. Joe Gambino, is now allowed, by the rules, that if the testimony of the cop reflects what Joe Mecli said, he can locate Joe Mecli, and threaten him to "Contest". Appear in court and say "Nah that didnt happen". This is the most fair addition to the rule, reflecting the new rules of evidence, and how we deal with witness statements. Now that the DAs office is aware that they can do this shit, they're going to be doing it *a lot*. And there needs to be a balance. The technicality of the rules should be that you have to locate the person in game, Identify them somehow (tie them to the name), and threaten them that they have to get you an affidavit stating the *opposite* before discovery closes. This should be done with at least 24 hours BEFORE discovery closes, as to provide ample time. Then, if they refuse to testify, or they switch sides again on the stand and say its true and the guy is a criminal, the family of that criminal should be able to give orders on the Joe Mecli, the civilian, for snitching. Kind of a long one, but here's my change to the rule I would make: You cannot PK a civilian for simply witnessing or reporting a crime, it's natural for normal civilians to call the Police or report incidents, while you may attack them for this it is not considered a valid PK reason. You may only PK a Civilian if they are actively collaborating with a government agency to take you down, i.e. signing an affidavit or working directly with police beyond the initial report. If their statements to police are later used by police to establish that a crime was committed, you may locate, identify, and threaten the individual in order to write an affidavit contesting that they never made those statements. If they fail to write that affidavit before discovery closes, or refuse to testify thereafter, or testify and state the opposite (thereby further implicating you), you may PK that person.

Outside of the long term goal, I would like to become a staff member to help with the community, often being on during low populated hours for the early morning UK folks to about midday where there isn't many staff members on. Along with this I would obviously also help in peak hours too. When out and about in the city I try to show to respect to everyone, not starting beefs for no reason and even when presented with conflict I'd prefer to settle it with a talk rather than drawing guns. I'm gonna be honest too, theres a circle of people who I know don't like me, like to call me trans, etc., frankly I don't care about these comments and wouldn't let this get in the way of an unbiased view when staffing. What is your favourite moment on Diverge so far?: Since starting in January I've had plenty of laughs but also plenty of serious RP moments, one of which a small event that I coordinated within people of my faction. We organised for a high profiles member car to be taken (a character I was playing stole the car). We gathered all the active associates to then chase the car down without using guns and keeping the cops attention away from what was going on, the event ended with a hostage situation that was deescalated. It was a small event that didn't impact the wider server but it was fun for everyone who has involved, it was great getting associates involved with something that wasn't the usual grinding and put emphasis to RPing. Someone RDMs and you are currently off-duty. How do you handle this?: *Edit. Didnt answer my bad. Any issue that involves myself should be handled by another member of the team, meaning that the issue is looked out without bias, and removes the question of any vendettas, or abuse of power coming from a spur of the moment incident. I'd follow the usual process that any other player would do, making a ticket, presenting evidence and having a sit. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: The first step to this situation would be: First I'd start by reaching out for an informal chat either in game or on discord, just to check in that they know what theyre doing is wrong sorta thing, if what theyre doing is nothing too noticeable it might be that they thought what they were doing was okay, or they didn't realise it was having an impact on RP. If it were to continue I'd send them a message so the issue can be dated and can be in writing where we both acknowledge the situation in a paper trail, and if they continue there is evidence of them being told what they're doing is wrong. Continuing after this I'd prevent the evidence (clips, messages, etc.) to the chain of command to ensure that the right person is able to deal with the situation correctly, rather than publicly airing out any disputes this would be done privately between the accused, myself and the chain of command. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: There are two routes in this situation to take: Way 1 (less severe incidents): Deal with the ticket like any other ticket for this sort of infraction, if its minging, this would be dealt with on basis of the severity of minging, if they're just being annoying, doing the usual sit giving them a warning/note. For things such as RDM, again following the usual protocol of investigating the incident with clips, logs, etc and applying the correct punishment to the infraction they've committed. Way 2 (more severe incidents): If I know that I am going to have an extreme bias or trouble assessing the situation from the perspective of all parties I would either call in another moderator/senior staff for support and explain how my bias may be influencing a final outcome and ask for their opinion before committing to it. This means there is a less chance of an appeal if a third party has also been involved within the situation, although as a staff member myself I should be this third party myself, as previously stating, taking my character out of decisions and following the rules of the server equally for everyone as a staff member. ---------------------------------------------------------

Now fast forward 5 mins the guy is talking shit again but I don't kill him, I walk off back to what I was doing and went AFK as I had stuff to do. I come back to a ban screen for 2 weeks for RDM, and this guy is trolling me in my discord clearly knowing its not a fair ban, and the fact I was just banned without getting to say my side of the story is not fair in my eyes. This same guy was over at our shop a few days ago being a minge for no reason with ample warnings to leave our shop, and his approach being unrealistic RP. Why should you be unbanned? I have been very invested in this server, spending a lot of money in the process, and I have not been a minge RP'er one bit, many people would tell you since 'Chin' has came into the city he has been a man of his word and has been doing a lot of good business and relationship building, and doing things the right way. 1. Crazy is rdm baiting IF its true that he was approaching you multiple times intentionally insulting you. 2. You cannot escalate to gun fight purely off of disrespect. You're both in the wrong, IMO crazy has more experience on the server and should've been punished too. On your end, you just got off a ban and should also know better, but a reduced ban from 2 weeks. I'm not staff nor am I trying to undermine anyone, but like I said, both are in the wrong here especially Crazy if he was insulting you over multiple occasions.

+1 hes literally on a minge char beefing with someone of a rival faction, bans also way to long compared to other punishments. Is it RDM yes, he did not follow proper escelation, but there are external factors that need to be taken into account.

Make it so you can pass on your ownership / location of an active shipment to somebody else in the C menu. This opens up small RP / grinding opportunities for associates, who can get tasked with picking up packages for lazy bosses and risk death if they don’t bring the goods.

Currently the warning you get when joining a Faction (shown below) is a blanket warning applying to all factions allowing no individuality in what factions stand for. What I am proposing is adding a box to this warning which the boss of each family can assign specific rules to which new recruits must agree to when joining a faction. This would allow factions to specify what they expect of their recruits so there's less surprise when people get PK'd for doing stupid shit. A few examples would be specifying that a certain faction doesn't allow mugging or allow drug trades etc etc.

They were rolling in it, and new members were appearing every week. They ran several underground gambling and escort rings, out of the very Jazz bars that they took refuge in. By 1973, whenever Cocaine and Heroin made its way to New York. business was better than ever. They began buying out nightclubs and record labels, anything to get them more money. Greed got to Silky Ray, all of his lavish living style caught up to him, he got caught for Money Laundering in 1976, and later died in prison in 1978, murdered by another inmate. How do you handle this?: If I was the one who got RDMed I would make a ticket as per usual; however if it was somebody else and I witnessed them get RDMed, I would tell them to make a ticket and explain to them how if they don't already know. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: Clip each occasion and report it to somebody who is of higher rank than myself. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: I would not take the ticket as it could possibly come across as bias, I would instead inform other staff members that I can't take it and explain why.

I always thought it would be nice to have a server that is sort of like the build server accept, its sole purpose would be for players to test out the different weapons on the server and generally practice pvp. This could also be good for reducing random gunfights happening when people get bored (iykyk). could also be good for events.

As a police main who has to chase after MUTLIPLE vehicles which are hard to pin and stop. I am tired of dealing with 30 to 60 minute police chases. I am hoping we can bring back or add gasoline stations and fuel system. I understand we have a despawner system, but I was hoping we can get a fuel system in place. I think if people spawn their vehicle, and I think their should also be a fueling system to allow players to be responsible to refuel to have the gas gauge full.

i think it should be looked at in a different way, not as a "practice" server but more as a fun little side server where u can have some down time, maybe even make it donator only to help w the costs! pvp has ALWAYS been seen in a very negative light in the rp space and for good reason but when it comes to it, its fun! i can PROMISE you, if it gets added NO ONE is going on there for 7 hours to "practice their gmod pvp", we already have 1942 rp for that lol, there are also 100x more effective ways to "practice" if your that dedicated to mafia pvp. it will most likely be used for friendly 1v1s or 2v2s ect ect! and at the end of the day, if u dont like the pvp dont join the pvp server! (if it gets added) ps, if it does become a thing, i would imagine it would be like the old pvp system with 3rd person and no recoil as that is what that majority of pvp enjoyers would prefer so you wouldnt even be "training" functional skills that you could bring over to the live rp server

Maybe an addition i'd put on this suggestion would be fixed contract template items, rather than google docs like the typewriter uses For example, in City Hall there is a legal supplies vendor who sells contract templates, they could be: Sale/Purchase Agreement Lawyer Contract or probably a few other options- Then they are a nice IC template of a contract with places left out for Item Category/Money Amount etc. and then at the bottom Name and Signature of each party (auto filled via your char id upon signing) These can then be used via factions IC-ly to enforce missed fees for Lawyers, or missed payments on custom clothing or guns, and have a purpose in PK sits Could also be used in other Legal RP scenarios for things like Oil Coupons, Police ticketing, Fines, Bills at restaurants even I think it'd be cool, the more Diverge interactions that can be pulled away from a Google Docs tab the better imo

I waited 2 minutes until he arrived just in case of anything and then me and the guy i picked up hopped out. I gave him 30k and then all of a sudden some guy came out of nowhere. No car, no nothing and then they started to rob me and told me to turn around and get up against the wall, so I did my buddy was in his own parked car. They told him to get out of the car He didn't do it fast enough apparently, so they just shot him without knowing if he was with me or not and then I started to lag and i couldn't move and then my game crashed because of the gun shots and this has been happening to me for a couple of days when gun shots are close to me. I understand it seems like I disconnected to not be robbed, but my game did crash. I would have just did an escalation ticket AFTER they robbed me but the reason i did not return right away was because i was also having internet issues at the time there was a sever thunder storm where i live and my wifi kept turning on and off but i came back 30-40 mins later after my wifi was working. medal wasn't set to startup with my pc so i don't have a clip but This is all fixed now. Currently it isn't great having melee weapons in gun rackets when it comes to a money making angle. For example, our racket has fire axes that cost $1,000 to order. Even if we were to break even selling them, you can get 5-6 shovels for the same price as 1 axe and with zero wait. And there is still the same cooldown for melee weapons as if you were ordering back to back gun shipments. Most times people want alot of them in a short time for events. Also most people pass on buying them when they see the price, and we intentially set it higher than we would like to avoid large orders. My suggesstion would be to rebalance melee weapons in rackets in one or more of the following ways: - Make them near zero cost to order, so they can be offered at lower prices and still make a somewhat decent profit - Reduce the reordering cooldown significantly - Have all melee weapon shipments come with a larger amount(at least 5-10) Would be open to hearing other sugestions as well

i understand the perspective and that everyone has their own preferences for gameplay- and im sure most of us have done something once or twice that wasn’t the most rp-inclined thing at an off hour. your example is a great one for why we shouldn’t get comfortable doing that on the server. i count multiple fresh to the city folk who have no idea what they’re doing and this probably isn’t the best precedent to set for them. as aforementioned i can only see it being used as a crutch for the people coming onto this server strictly to try and hone their skills, check weapon stats, etc- but additionally it would shell a chunk of the exchange that takes place between people and weapon stores. what’s the point of asking around for what weapons and attachments are good if you just get told ‘bro….. just go on the ffa server and find out’. optimistically an outlet would still be nice. as much as i personally don’t like the idea, the build server could realistically be able to host a more sandbox setting where people can switch between pvp/build modes. in prevention of people trying to min/max the shit out of an IC weapon build; every single weapon would likely need to be modified in movement, damage, RoF, recoil, draw, etc- until its marketably unrecognizable compared to the main server weapons. (i love your optimism, but there are definitely people trying that hard. we have some real urchins around here if you look for them) it seems like it may be more hassle than it’s worth when we could just get GMs to break up the monotony for people looking for a breather from the RP with more occasional events. it really depends though, because i could also see a big enough chunk of people wanting something like this to make it happen

Please for the love of god, stop making Otorhinolaryngologists (ear doctors) rich and add some type of proximity chat. We literally have the most bare-bones voice chat we can have, literally no communication can be had in a crowded environment. To add on to this, there's addons that allow for "voice priority" where a staff member can make someone's voice louder(Can be used in events such as the recent fashion show, but with staff supervision).

So yeah you banned this guy for 2 weeks off of the basis that a minge came up (same guy whos tried to RDM bait our faction members before) called him a "Asshole" and "Stupid Nigger" and you expect him not to react in any negative way??
