From what I saw, it felt like the players involved acted out of OOC frustration or personal issues instead of their characters’ actual motives. It broke the immersion and made the roleplay feel unfair, which is disappointing since I’ve always tried to take RP seriously and stay true to my character. I’m not completely sure what the exact reasoning or orders behind my character’s death were, but based on what I’ve heard, it seems like it was influenced more by OOC stuff than anything that made sense IC. There wasn’t proper escalation, and it didn’t fit with my character’s story or any real conflict that would’ve justified it. Also, the player I believe was mainly involved has a history of causing or exaggerating drama and not being fully honest in past situations. so, it’s hard to see this as a fair or natural outcome of roleplay. tldr: we broke up and she got me killed for no reason

Hello, Once upon a time we removed the ability for properties to have food registers, in place of that we set up Shipment NPCs where people could order in food items (in bulk obviously), and then transport them to the property, and store them for selling to people. At the time, this was somewhat unpopular due to a few issues. Such as: - Storage entities were frequently being wiped, which would mean people would spend many hours organizing stock and arranging deliveries, just for it to be wasted. This is no longer an issue as storages permanently persist. - Having to have millions of storage lockers to store them in, making it difficult to effectively organize. - Lazyness. But this is a task that should be delegated to lower ranking members. - The old shipment system had dogshit configuration, so you couldn't order multiple at once. - Whatever else, it was years ago I don't remember. So we eventually reintroduced property vendors, but with a limit of 15 items. Today, I was reminded that we once had this system. Thinking about it, I realize that its reintroduction would come with many benefits, such as. - Not having to rely on me or Canadian to get on and change vendors when you want something changed. Which is a lengthy process, getting approval from FL, making the UA ticket then waiting for us to change it. - Being able to sell a wide range of food and drink items, instead of being limited to 15 pre-selected options. - Boost of available roleplay - new hires can be assigned as delivery boys, restaurants will have to organize their stock and have dedicated people managing it, ensuring supplies stay available, and much much more. We would make the following changes with this: - We would create a new type of storage item, that has a much larger inventory space, but in return it would only be able to store food items. Thus resolving the issue of having to have 100 storage items. - We would update the Shipment NPC UI to have organized categories so it isn't all cluttered together (like it is now). There would be tabs, nice and organized. - Shipment timing for food would also NOT be the same as drugs/guns. They would spawn immediately for collection. So I wanted to see what you all think - would this be something you'd like to see? I cannot see any real downsides to this, other than lazyness / not wanting to RP. But maybe there are some - so by all means let me know if there are. Or perhaps there are other things that would need to be done alongside what I have proposed. Outside of the long term goal, I would like to become a staff member to help with the community, often being on during low populated hours for the early morning UK folks to about midday where there isn't many staff members on. Along with this I would obviously also help in peak hours too. When out and about in the city I try to show to respect to everyone, not starting beefs for no reason and even when presented with conflict I'd prefer to settle it with a talk rather than drawing guns. I'm gonna be honest too, theres a circle of people who I know don't like me, like to call me trans, etc., frankly I don't care about these comments and wouldn't let this get in the way of an unbiased view when staffing. What is your favourite moment on Diverge so far?: Since starting in January I've had plenty of laughs but also plenty of serious RP moments, one of which a small event that I coordinated within people of my faction. We organised for a high profiles member car to be taken (a character I was playing stole the car). We gathered all the active associates to then chase the car down without using guns and keeping the cops attention away from what was going on, the event ended with a hostage situation that was deescalated. It was a small event that didn't impact the wider server but it was fun for everyone who has involved, it was great getting associates involved with something that wasn't the usual grinding and put emphasis to RPing. Any issue that involves myself should be handled by another member of the team, meaning that the issue is looked out without bias, and removes the question of any vendettas, or abuse of power coming from a spur of the moment incident. I'd follow the usual process that any other player would do, making a ticket, presenting evidence and having a sit. You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: The first step to this situation would be: First I'd start by reaching out for an informal chat either in game or on discord, just to check in that they know what theyre doing is wrong sorta thing, if what theyre doing is nothing too noticeable it might be that they thought what they were doing was okay, or they didn't realise it was having an impact on RP. If it were to continue I'd send them a message so the issue can be dated and can be in writing where we both acknowledge the situation in a paper trail, and if they continue there is evidence of them being told what they're doing is wrong. Continuing after this I'd prevent the evidence (clips, messages, etc.) to the chain of command to ensure that the right person is able to deal with the situation correctly, rather than publicly airing out any disputes this would be done privately between the accused, myself and the chain of command. A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: There are two routes in this situation to take: Way 1 (less severe incidents): Deal with the ticket like any other ticket for this sort of infraction, if its minging, this would be dealt with on basis of the severity of minging, if they're just being annoying, doing the usual sit giving them a warning/note. For things such as RDM, again following the usual protocol of investigating the incident with clips, logs, etc and applying the correct punishment to the infraction they've committed. Way 2 (more severe incidents): If I know that I am going to have an extreme bias or trouble assessing the situation from the perspective of all parties I would either call in another moderator/senior staff for support and explain how my bias may be influencing a final outcome and ask for their opinion before committing to it. This means there is a less chance of an appeal if a third party has also been involved within the situation, although as a staff member myself I should be this third party myself, as previously stating, taking my character out of decisions and following the rules of the server equally for everyone as a staff member. ---------------------------------------------------------

Right now, rumour is 60% saying retarded shit without facing RP consequences, and 40% being used properly. I think there could be a few ways to go about changing this. 1 - Its removal entirely, and adding a system similar to the city board for creating an actual marketplace for criminals, and then enabling OOC. (The OOC part is optional) 2 - Adding a cooldown, to incentivize using it for its intended purpose, and enforcing misuse 3- Creating a flag for it, and whenever someone misuses it, they lose access for x amount of time based on the severity of the punishment. It'll also make the server seem more serious to newer players, not seeing a glorified ooc chat going off with stupid messages 24/7

I think realistically the lifeblood of restaurant RP isn't player characters being hungry - that maybe only applies to cops who come into the Blue Lobster for example as and when they need food. Most restaurant RP is players having arranged or impromptu dinners and meals with their families, crews, factions etc. Having accessible food vendors through the hotdog stands doesn't quell RP - if restaurants were the only source of good food then I'd argue it could do more harm than good, as people would spend more time in RP businesses during grinding gameplay loops when they probably aren't intending to RP. If I was trying to do a full table hosting roleplay and being constantly interrupted by players demanding food at the bar as quick as possible I'd find that frustrating. TL;DR - Removing or making hotdog vendors undesireable could push more non-RP to legal fronts

Make it so you can pass on your ownership / location of an active shipment to somebody else in the C menu. This opens up small RP / grinding opportunities for associates, who can get tasked with picking up packages for lazy bosses and risk death if they don’t bring the goods.

Im not one to bitch about people having fun. Im more of the person to let people just live their lives, its gmod, i understand this. BUT 1. Constant minge chars with zero RP that talk ooc constantly. (wong, genderswap, etc) 2. People will talk about factions openly in rumours with no rp just literally ooc talk about factions and shit. 3. Large amounts of people standing in a group doing nothing (most of the time theyre in a discord call) 4. I see atleast 3-4 sets of people following each other very clearly using discord every single day. 5. Nobody ever gets in trouble for abusing factions or joining just to minge, their char just gets killed instead of a ban 6. Constant shit clothing that wouldnt even make sense on someone if they were insane let alone 1989. (king Baldwin mask, leanin suit, etc) 7. Nobody is forced to run their stores even if theyre paying taxes leaving alot of buildings just never open or doing anything. 8. Theyre are literally like 3 factions that are JUST for minging. My suggestion, get on your admins ass about fixing some of the problems, force them to spectate people really take the time to watch if people are breaking rules and start passing out punishments, its kinda insane that ill put a ticket in and its the same 2-3 admins taking my tickets but 8 are online doing literally nothing to help the server feel better. I'm sorry if this ruffles some feathers but I know very well im not the only one feeling this way. I wrote the orders on you. first off, you retired over OOC shit saying Gmod isnt for you anymore before we could even ask you what was going on. We never gave you approval to retire. You just left. Weeks go by, and you are saying you want to come back, which means you havent been paying into anything for the weeks you left. Then you flat out told our Head Enforcer that if we dont let you back in you will mug or kill HC to get what you want. You said this in the city to him IC and it was clipped. Which is why we moved forward with the PK. You accept the risks of death when you enter this thing. There is even a little notification you agree to when you join.

People hate it because you can lose items and suffer character destruction. People are punished for breaking the rules around mugging (which there are many) because each mug and the context behind it is generally nuanced. Using it to target people for pks (engaging with it in bad faith) using alt characters to mug avoiding all risk, only mugging and not roleplaying as a symptom of dark rp brain. Mugging is an integral part of criminal aspects of the server and even as controversial as it is or has been it remains a part of the game, but it has recognizably flawed attributes which are mediated and covered by rules. Engage with it properly and don't be surprised if you get banned for breaking a rule. Placing a bounty and incentivising people to mug someone where the explicit goal (incentive) is to get that person pked? (Circumventing roleplay and mass target mugging them in hopes they make a mistake and get penalized) The very nature and goal being to inflict harm and ruin the other persons roleplay. People will be understandably upset if they feel they were subject to unfair, ooc motivated, non rp driven targetting

I think the flag option would be the best. People say stupid shit over rumour all the time because they think it's completely anonymous like staff can't see who is posting them. For example, last night I muted two people for saying "Askull is a lispy retard". Using OOC terms IC in a small group of people is one thing, but retards will use rumour to type stupid OOC shit to get attention from the majority of the server. If we had flags, this wouldn't be such an issue.

Currently the warning you get when joining a Faction (shown below) is a blanket warning applying to all factions allowing no individuality in what factions stand for. What I am proposing is adding a box to this warning which the boss of each family can assign specific rules to which new recruits must agree to when joining a faction. This would allow factions to specify what they expect of their recruits so there's less surprise when people get PK'd for doing stupid shit. A few examples would be specifying that a certain faction doesn't allow mugging or allow drug trades etc etc.

I always thought it would be nice to have a server that is sort of like the build server accept, its sole purpose would be for players to test out the different weapons on the server and generally practice pvp. This could also be good for reducing random gunfights happening when people get bored (iykyk). could also be good for events.

i think it should be looked at in a different way, not as a "practice" server but more as a fun little side server where u can have some down time, maybe even make it donator only to help w the costs! pvp has ALWAYS been seen in a very negative light in the rp space and for good reason but when it comes to it, its fun! i can PROMISE you, if it gets added NO ONE is going on there for 7 hours to "practice their gmod pvp", we already have 1942 rp for that lol, there are also 100x more effective ways to "practice" if your that dedicated to mafia pvp. it will most likely be used for friendly 1v1s or 2v2s ect ect! and at the end of the day, if u dont like the pvp dont join the pvp server! (if it gets added) ps, if it does become a thing, i would imagine it would be like the old pvp system with 3rd person and no recoil as that is what that majority of pvp enjoyers would prefer so you wouldnt even be "training" functional skills that you could bring over to the live rp server

Maybe an addition i'd put on this suggestion would be fixed contract template items, rather than google docs like the typewriter uses For example, in City Hall there is a legal supplies vendor who sells contract templates, they could be: Sale/Purchase Agreement Lawyer Contract or probably a few other options- Then they are a nice IC template of a contract with places left out for Item Category/Money Amount etc. and then at the bottom Name and Signature of each party (auto filled via your char id upon signing) These can then be used via factions IC-ly to enforce missed fees for Lawyers, or missed payments on custom clothing or guns, and have a purpose in PK sits Could also be used in other Legal RP scenarios for things like Oil Coupons, Police ticketing, Fines, Bills at restaurants even I think it'd be cool, the more Diverge interactions that can be pulled away from a Google Docs tab the better imo

Would be nice just to add a "Repeat Offender" option that is 1 minute long, and no limit. That way you can add as many as you need. And to the naysayers who would suggest "What if they abuse it", I'd point out that you can literally already add every single charge possible to a guy.

Idk if this should be a suggestion or bug report but for the last year the clothing damage cooldown counts into the negatives im tired of guessing when I can swap clothing from damage cooldown

i understand the perspective and that everyone has their own preferences for gameplay- and im sure most of us have done something once or twice that wasn’t the most rp-inclined thing at an off hour. your example is a great one for why we shouldn’t get comfortable doing that on the server. i count multiple fresh to the city folk who have no idea what they’re doing and this probably isn’t the best precedent to set for them. as aforementioned i can only see it being used as a crutch for the people coming onto this server strictly to try and hone their skills, check weapon stats, etc- but additionally it would shell a chunk of the exchange that takes place between people and weapon stores. what’s the point of asking around for what weapons and attachments are good if you just get told ‘bro….. just go on the ffa server and find out’. optimistically an outlet would still be nice. as much as i personally don’t like the idea, the build server could realistically be able to host a more sandbox setting where people can switch between pvp/build modes. in prevention of people trying to min/max the shit out of an IC weapon build; every single weapon would likely need to be modified in movement, damage, RoF, recoil, draw, etc- until its marketably unrecognizable compared to the main server weapons. (i love your optimism, but there are definitely people trying that hard. we have some real urchins around here if you look for them) it seems like it may be more hassle than it’s worth when we could just get GMs to break up the monotony for people looking for a breather from the RP with more occasional events. it really depends though, because i could also see a big enough chunk of people wanting something like this to make it happen

Not to mention they already have the whitelist vehicle(s) from said faction, why be able to walk away from a crime family with their signature vehicle? Simply unwhitelisting the retards doesn’t get rid of loose ends, if anything it makes them more untouchable. If we wanted to kill them before they touched drugs why would we voluntarily give them more “IC knowledge” of our family’s connection to the underground world?

Could also open up some cool attachments like weapon slings or something to decrease draw time etc? I think adding more to the gunplay, especially now attachments are back, would be great. I also think gun bags should show on your back, but not class as probable cause for a search by police Otherwise you can be interacting with a guy who has a whole AK stuffed in his trouser pockets, as far as you're aware

on cool old server we had two features that helped combat this: - when you switched to a gun in your weapon wheel it would start on safety and depending on the type of gun (big rifles had longer timer), it had a short delay on how quickly you could unsafety it, to mimic the time it would take to actually grab it and raise it - progress bar on equipping/unequipping weapons in inventory (a few seconds) if you guys put aside your own subjective opinions, features like these despite seemingly small would absolutely go a long way in increasing RP quality. It would force people into enhancing interactions, instead of resorting to taking someones head off if they look at you funny. Always been an advocate for this, and so should you all.
