  1. Equipable briefcases with a balanced amount of extra storage space, visible when equipped. This not only gives extra inventory space, but also offers roleplay opportunities and unique player interactions (Briefcase filled with money, guns, drugs, contracts, documents, limbs, etc). Can be placed in crates, lockers, cars, dropped, etc. Purchasable at hardware store or at barge? Will take up perhaps 8 slots of inventory space while offering 10-16 slots? Maybe brief/suitcases of different sizes?

  2. When recruiting people, you might have someone train for you because you're a lazy sack of shit. Sometimes these trainings might not be done properly, yadada, and thats purely the fault of who told you to train right? But what happens in the case of people who don't get invited to the faction discord for example. Crucial step right there, because now you have an un-tracked faction member that can do whatever the fuck they want. Im yapping, heres my proposal. A faction "lock-down" option to whitelisting. Factions may choose to enable or disable this, basically it will not allow anyone to be whitelisted to your faction (staff cannot whitelist TO faction) UNLESS you have C menu recruitment permissions. This will stop the leak of random low level associates/interns from being able to just go "@ whitelist this guy" and causing problems, under the faction whitelist. Maybe I'm just a horrible faction leader idk, but I've caught a bunch of people just blatantly racket abusing recently in my faction (Brown and Sons Co.), yet I cannot do anything about it, other than just unwhitelist them and get staff to note/ban/punish etc.

  3. I know it is something small and may not be worth the time but aside from just being cool it would be nice to be able to use a phone without having to go to an ATM, the electronics store, or if you have a full inventory and need to make a phone call or respond to a rumour ad quickly. You could charge a small fee for using the phone and I don't see a bad reason for adding it.

  4. I am aware the last post about this topic was turned down, but I feel it didn't elaborate enough on how much potential it really has for both parties involved, ESPECIALLY for NYPD. Firstly, it gives fairplay for both the targeted faction and the NYPD as the criminals aren't the only ones who risk losing their chars during this event. Police already benefit from body armor and PK immunity in other circumstances, however this situation could create a much more intense situation with great roleplay and pvp potential. The criminal faction would have to tighten security and improve weaponry, whereas police would have to plan an elaborate insertion. A situation where police risk their lives during a raid incentivizes a slower, well thought-out breach with, for example, multiple entry points, sniper teams, sentries to watch the entry team’s back and so on. On another note, this concept could also push the idea of the creation of specialized police forces as would be SWAT, FBI, DEA and so on which is more than possible considering NYPD is technically the largest faction in the server. This could encourage rigorous trainings, selective recruitment (good pvpers and strategists), etc. I feel if we look at it from this POV, this whole event could be turned into an intense, thrilling, action packed experience with high stakes and high potential for developing certain sub-communities and whatnot. Also canadian bacon the argument of a guy wiping out the task force from behind doesnt quite work if there are sentries deployed. And the NYPD is impossible to wipe out through PKs. There will always be new candidates and cadets. NYPD enthusiasts and UA pls read this with an open mind

  11. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2080221076 A old friend of mine made this addon. I've used it before and works fine. Although, I'd have to say it is circumstantial as once you use it and depending on the environment (if it is a darker room or a room with unique lighting), it may look "too bright" and "out of place". I do think it is worth adding to the server as most of the time it will visually look alright. +1

  15. During my time being apart of the Diverge community (particularly in my time as staff) I have read almost every faction application that has come through and seen a lot of similar flaws in applications that people fall into. So I've taken it upon myself to create a guide for all of you who are thinking about applying for your own faction. It will be broken up into points for TLDR and a write up after for those of you that are interested in bettering their application. Don't take this as gospel, or the be all and end all of making an application. This is just my take on it. I will probably update it over time too. Pre-Application Things you should get right before even making the application. You need experience to be a don/boss/leader Whilst being a leader of a faction can be fun, it can also be quite taxing. Everybody that joins your faction will be looking at you to guide them and to provide the bare basis of roleplay. You are the glue that holds the faction together. Whilst some first time Don's are can flourish in the role, it is highly encouraged that you get some experience in playing the server before becoming a Don. Learn the skills, learn how the discords work. A higher play time can only be better for your application. Write down your ideas I find it highly beneficial to write down your ideas before you start writing an application. What kind of faction do you want to run? what names do you have in mind? any backstory ideas, even fun and interesting RP ideas. Anything you write down can be referred to. I found this really helpful when I made my own application, when I was hitting brick walls - i could refer back to my notes. DO-NOT's Things you should avoid when writing your faction application Don't use AI to generate your application The use of AI in a faction application is a nono. Some people spend hours on their applications, and to use AI to generate your application is a big slap in the face to the people who have really worked hard. However using AI as a tool can have it's benefits. If you start getting a bit of writer's block, using AI as a tool to give you some ideas may be helpful, but do not copy it verbatim as that won't get you anywhere. Don't copy other applications Copying another application and changing a few words is entirely pointless. Make your application your own creation. Use other accepted applications as a benchmark, reading those and understanding why they were accepted will be very helpful. Be overpowered When writing your application consider that if you're accepted you will likely start small. There isn't much point in writing a backstory that you 'run the streets of NY'. DO's Things you should do or consider when writing a successful application Be unique in your faction name and heritage We get it, it's 'Mafia RP', the most popular heritage is going to be Italian, but try to think outside of the box. Whilst Italian can be an interesting pick and offers a great range of RP. There are organised crime gangs in every part of the world, so if you have a good idea... why not make it into an application? the freedom you can have whilst picking a unique heritage is only as far as your imagination can take you. Spend a lot of time on your backstory Your backstory is critical to your application getting accepted. Think about your roots, your heritage and your faction name. Be creative, think outside the box or consider using a real gang that has existed, that way the backstory is all ready for you to review and put into your own wording. In my opinion a good backstory should answer these questions: - Where the faction comes from - The name of the faction - The main players - What got you into illegal operations - How and why you landed in New York (If you're a jamaican faction, why are you in New York) Write up a nice backstory and read it through a couple of times, and pick out anything that doesn't make sense or doesn't feel right and rewrite it. Have someone else read it. Use images Images aren't a requirement when making an application, but they help greatly. Not only do they break up potential walls of text but they can help show the reader exactly what you're talking about. I've seen some great applications where people have made scenario's inside the game itself. You could use real images of mobsters, or pictures of places etc. Come up with some unique roleplay examples Now you've got your backstory written up, come up with some good examples of what roleplay you would bring to the table. What separates you from all of the other applicants and current factions in the server. Some great examples are things like, what business you want to run, what events would you like to host. Make sure you meet the word count The backstory section has a minimum word count of 250. Make sure that you at least hit this. Anything after that is a bonus! the more expressive you can be, the better tha backstory will read. Common Pitfalls A few common mistakes or things that make an application look worse off. Declaring what drug you want in your backstory Try not to declare what drug your faction is in, in your backstory. There is no guarantee that you will end up with that drug if your application is approved. Grammar and punctuation Try to use proper grammar and punctuation in your backstory. It shows that you've spent time on your application and you actually care about the people who read it. Repetition I've seen so many applications where people repeat certain things and it makes the reader check out. For example, a lot of the time people will repeat the name of the boss. In one case the name of the boss appeared in the backstory over 24 times, it just looks kind of sloppy.

  16. Your Character or Steam Name: Ayden/:) Your SteamID (Click to retrieve): STEAM_0:1:73536917 Your Discord ID#: celestus.x Reason for ban: “Rule” - Cheating/Hacking Length of ban: Perm Reason for appeal (dispute/apology): Apology. Why should you be unbanned? It has almost been 2 months since my original appeal. The issue is, not a ton has changed. For those who are reading this and are unaware, I was caught with ESP while playing the server. I have my own feelings about how detrimental to the RP experience my actions specifically were, but I won’t contest the idea that generally cheating in any capacity is a negative thing and shouldn’t be tolerated by server management. Either way, I am still the same person just 2 months older. As for why i’m deciding to re-appeal, I can’t say. I think some reasons are more obvious. This server is one of the more enjoyable experiences in the gmod roleplay world and I dedicated a lot of time to it and enjoyed taking part in the various systems. Other than that, I don’t have any profound reason for wanting to return. I enjoyed the experience, being banned sucks but I get it, I would like the chance to come back. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, I no longer have the cheats. I do use rudimentary trainers on games like NMS and MHW but anything which would resemble the stuff I was using is gone. No way to prove that, but it’s the truth. Laptop has been reset since the incident, never reinstalled the injector so it wouldn’t be a concern if I were allowed to return. All that to say, I admit I fucked up. I’m not expecting anything, but I’m generally not a malicious guy and would like the opportunity to hang out in the city again.

  17. Not necessary i feel like if you add a pool table prop in game, then host an online pool game via discord and so on this is much easier than implementing it into the mod

  18. When dropping 100 bucks or 100k you get a bundle of cash. Would be awesome to have cash for numbers less that 2-5k and larger sums of money having even more stacks of money - like dropping 100k would have a small pyramid of cash or dropping 500k would have a briefcase with stacks around it etc. Now "who would be dropping 100-500k cash?!?" - well, it would go awesome with RPs, particularly meetings and sitdowns and would be a very nice sight to have during a discussion or payment between parties etc. I only submitted this idea after we talked about this with special mention to: Burner, Crocie and a few others whom I forgot :')
