Criminals need to be perfect all the time, cops only need to get lucky once. Al-Capone killed and raped and trafficked but got caught because of taxes. It’s the name of the game. You think he made a thread to complain about it? Take it like man.
-
Radios are used for more long term communication. These phone group calls would be used for short, 5 minute conversations where you don't have to go up to them and be like "Hey, go to this frequency".
-
Unless they have a gun out or on safety which then…. Tough luck, but that goes for civs too
-
Also uh, FearRp does go both ways. You just have to outnumber the police officer. You cant expect to intimidate someone with a gun and bulletproof vest as much as if they weren’t wearing it. Ive mugged and killed a police officer before, you just need a group of 4 or so people, and follow the FearRP rules of course. And if they’re off duty? Free game, the same protections dont apply to off duty police.
-
I agree that the simplest resolution to the police not having any regard for their life should be having FearRP work both ways. There's no reason a cop or two should be able to arrest someone while being threatened by the criminals faction/friends without having to fear for their life in the process. Make it more important for cops to coordinate their arrests and attempt to take control of the situation instead of actively ignoring the 5+ armed people surrounding them without fear. This entire suggestion, specifically the FearRP aspect, is wonderful and would bring a little more balance to MAFIARP.

Just be friendly with cops lol, ask em Whatsup occasionally, maybe a free meal here and there, but don’t make your family think you’re a snitch. I was running right past 90% of the PD with fucking full inventories of cocaine, plus a full trunk. Most of them don’t *want* to arrest someone they’re chill with, and more than likely know the person across multiple chars. You only really see cops arrest people who they dislike or just…. Are difficult. shoutout john gordon and joe mecli / bell belluchio for not searching me when I had 8000 life sentences worth of coke

-1 you shouldn't be able to pk cops

If a cop wants to get you in cuffs he can find a way, and once you're in cuffs and in the cell you're getting searched. Were you not recording when the arrest happened? Too bad buddy you gotta live with the outcome. No proof = no IA report. Not to mention how buddy buddy IA is with some cops . Like OP said, crim characters spend hours and hours on everything that they have, i mean if they even want to seem upstanding they gotta spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get their gun licenses. But here comes Senior Officer Jack Hoff with his little power fantasy... The rules gotta change. At least FearRP should go both ways, why would 1 cop be able to say and do whatever they want in front of a group of people without any repercussions? If cops wanna act like their balls are too big for their shorts let them patrol in groups, and let FearRP do it's thing if someone wants to appeal that arrest on the spot.

The explicit objective of the police is to make life harder for criminals. They are stronger and have more resources than the criminals because they’re outnumbered, badly, and restricted by various rules. Police interactions are balanced; killing cops for their job undoes the balance. -1

There already exist rules for fail corruption and general corruption as well as powergame. Cops can't just randomly stop and arrest you. Realistically avoiding cops is easy. Simply don't give them a reason to step in. Maybe there is something to be said if they're parked outside your business 24/7 harassing you legitimately especially if there's no discernible reason for it like an active investigation or an arrest warrant or something. Generally speaking yeah the cops are meant to make criminal life harder. That's effectively the point. To put it perfectly blunt, if you aren't open carrying (which would invite mild harassment) or causing a public scene (which literally invites police) or even shooting out in the open (warranting a lethal response) you'll literally be left alone or maybe just talked to in passing. If you aren't bank sharing, have reasonable operational security, and don't actively invite the police to need to deal with you you will be unlikely to deal with police. The quiet guy carrying a Mac11 while he grinds shipments is literally being left alone. The laws are really lax lately where you can even carry your gun in your hands and you can't be fucked with outside an ID check.

edit: i think i misread this i think its saying cops have no risk of pk if they act off like criminals in that regard nvm Cops are under risk of IA reports and losing their jobs and i believe PKable in certain situations

I've been asked to take my comment on the outstanding post and publish my own thread regarding this topic, enjoy the read Think about it, Take the average player who joins MafiaRP. They go through life trying to dodge police interactions because they know that could lead to a slippery slope resulting in a Felony which limits them severely, and oh God, everyone's avoiding that looming PK sentence. The average player is evading the police awhile navigating years of interrelated MafiaRP politics where he is walking on eggshells trying to climb the ladder of Diverge. Doing so involves participating in activities that could very well get him killed such as events like this past weekend. So he stays in line, doing whatever he is told to do and not stepping out of line. If he wants the capability to even challenge someone? He needs to grind at least 2 hours to acquire enough money to buy his first gun, losing it on each death that may or may not be compensated for RDM. Grinding and grinding for the other luxuries in life. **THAT** is how a criminal prevents himself from being PK'ed -> Keeping his head down, and grinding. A cop? Gets recruited as a cadet, has to go through training that is immediately overridden by the "status quo" of the bad habits of current street cops who often tip toe the line and sometimes might "push the envelope" of police conduct. Those are the ranks he's being raised in, fearing no evil, no threat of the end of his life. Police are living life on easy mode, like a doe that has yet to leave their mother. The police don't need to grind, they have no incentive to grind. They have one purpose -> spin the perpetual door of LegalRP. "Hook them and book them." I suggest the following: Make a couple PK rules prohibiting the occasional event of a police officer steps out of line, like a criminal does, which results in a PK.

Hello, There is a few glaring issues with this PK. First of all, the officer did hit you with his vehicle, though to his credit you were in the middle of a parking standing there, BUT because of it being a unmarked vehicle, I can see how you may have thought it was a simple civilian rather then it being an officer. Additionally along those lines with it being a civilian vehicle, the argument could be made that this is somewhat equivalent/similar to the ruling on how detectives can go about PKing in plain clothes (even if this is not a detective)

Your appeal has been reviewed and denied. We have determined this PK to be reasonable and/or justified. You may not re-appeal this PK.

Hello, While this is an unfortunate situation generally PKs are only reversed if a server rule was broken. This mistake rests solely on the high command of this faction, its an error on their end we will not be stepping in to reverse the roleplay that has been created. All in all this is an In Character issue stemming from a member of the high command jumping the gun/making a mistake.

first it was "i was rdming" then it was "the server randomly banned me" then it was "i didnt mean to alt" and now its "i was caught alting, unban me"

rare L from my boy, like u said pretty unnecessary since radios exist
