Just read the pk mug rules it explains lt pretty well.

But basically to answer your question no if you have your gun out on safety or in general before the person tries to initiate the mug it's considered a fail mug. However if you are already at gun point you risk yourself being pked as you're attempting to break the fearrp by fighting back. Also if they look away or stop pointing their guns at you, you can fight back without fear of being pked.

It isnt considered a Fail Mug. It's just not a smart thing to do. If you try to put someone under FearRP while they're already holding a gun in their hand (even with the safety), FearRP doesn't apply to them. That means they can attempt to defend themselves without the risk of being PK'd.

However, if they manage to kill the muggers, the muggers will be PK'd. So while it's definitely a risky and unwise mug attempt, BUT it isn't a Fail Mug.

Short answer to the question in the topic is No. If someone tries to apply FearRP on you while you already have a gun in your hand and attempts to mug you, you are allowed to defend yourself without the risk of being PK’d. However, if you manage to kill the attackers while doing so, they will be PK’d.

Bro you litterally just said what I said . Its a fail mug in the sense that the mugger is at risk of being pked and not the person being mugged.

Bro, Fail Mug is a completely different rule. The rule we're talking about here is FearRP violation, not Fail Mug.

Fail Mug is a specific rule break, not simply failing while trying to mug someone. For example, mugging someone in a green zone or trying to mug someone while there are obvious witnesses around is against the rules and would be considered Fail Mug. In those situations, staff members can punish the player accordingly, including issuing a PK or even a ban depending on the circumstances and the player's actions.

That said, the situation we talking about has nothing to do with Fail Mug. It's specifically about FearRP.
