How much time can you realistically dedicate to moderating?: Given I work a full time job, and I have other commitments beyond that regarding GMod (please reach out if you have any additional questions regarding this), I can likely do 1 - 2 hours a night on weekdays, and weekends more, I would say on the average week it could be around 10 - 15 hours, I believe this is sufficient to reach the 20 tickets a week goal while also allowing me to fulfill my RP goals.

What is your motivation/reason for applying?: Generally, as will be further explored in the application I tend to gravitate towards staff-like roles in the communities that I actually enjoy playing in. Diverge is an interesting take as most of my staff experience is relegated to “serious” RP servers, but none of this particular type of server. While there does seem to be a good deal of staff members who are active, I can imagine that the ticket queue is not small, and while I’m here it seems like a fun way to expand my experience on Diverge. I do tend to enjoy roles that I can do in the background of my main roles, such as my ADA character as most of the gameplay for that is paperwork which is done outside of the main city, in a similar way to how staff is taken outside of the main city’s roleplay. In my opinion being staff provides a new way to experience the server, and one which allows you to help others, hence why I tend to go for and enjoy staff roles.
Why should you be considered over other candidates?: I would say the main difference is my attitude towards staffing and my experience. As previously stated herein this application, I choose to attempt to staff on servers I enjoy because I see it as an expansion of the game, rather than an attempt to further some other agenda. I am not interested in staff due to permissions, or a desire to punish people, my goal is to help people while also having a good time on the server. While this would involve punishments by the nature of the role, I have met people in the past who applied for staff due to their enjoyment of handing out punishments, and I believe that it is a value add on my part for not having that motivating factor. Additionally, as will be expanded on in the question below, I have a large amount of experience, I have been staff for the reasons previously described on several servers, across many game modes over the past 9 years. I feel as though while every server is unique in its rules, and policies, the ability to handle the problems that come up while staffing is universal, and over the past 9 years and 16K hours across my two accounts, I feel as though I have honed that ability sufficiently.

Would you say that you are well known in our community, what's your reputation, what do other members think of you?: I wouldn’t say I am ‘well known’ in all of the various circles within this community due to the siloed nature of how it functions. However, with that being said, I feel as though I have a good reputation with the people who know me across the DA’s office, and the other aspects of the city. I would say that generally I would not be regarded as a troll / minge, and would hopefully have the reputation of being nice to all of the players who I interact with. Additionally, while this would be more apparent in the DA’s office and my faction, I believe that I have also demonstrated a strong work ethic, and shown that I am able to get tasks done in both an efficient and correct manner. I believe that in the circles wherein I am able to show proof of work, I have also demonstrated an ability to remain professional when the situation requires it, and ideally, even when it does not.
What is your favorite moment on Diverge so far?: Easily would be my first court trial that I witnessed in person. The last server wherein there was a solid legal structure that I played on was Defcon Nation's SantosRP server, which was years ago, with a system not nearly as fleshed out as Diverge’. That was one of the reasons why I got more into the server. Seeing the trial reminded me that there are still some interesting parts of GMod that I have not fully experienced yet.

Someone RDMs and you are currently off-duty. How do you handle this?: I apologize if this is not the ‘Diverge way’ of handling this situation, as I have been in some communities which prohibit you from moving from RP to staff after witnessing the event yourself to handle it. However, those kinds of servers in my experience are in the minority. If permitted, the way I would handle this is based on severity, if someone for example, walks up to some random people and MRDMs I would swap to staff and handle this issue promptly given he would likely MRDM again. However, if there is just a random killing in front of me, I would wait to see if a ticket is made, as there are many reasons to kill someone on Diverge that are not readily apparent to the naked eye, and I would like to avoid needlessly taking people to sits. With that being said, if the RDM is blatant, and very clearly not a rule-abiding kill, I would handle this situation and speak to those involved, review logs, etc, until I reach a conclusion.
You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: Abuse is abuse regardless of if it is noticeable or not, and there should not be a rank which is permitted to do as they please and abuse. As such, I would report the situation to the relevant person(s) within the team.
A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: To be clear, if you use your own personal experiences with someone to augment your judgement of them in a staff situation, it is clearly a form of bias and should not be done. Regardless of if in my experience he is not a minge or a RDMer, I would handle him the same way as I would handle a stranger whom I’ve never met before. This is how I would handle any situation regarding people I know, as the best way to ensure there is no implicit bias is to remove your prior experiences with the person and judge the acts as they are.
