Set an IRL age requirement on PD supervisor positions (backed by science)

In recent conversations it has been increasingly frustrating for many in PD having to listen to literal children act like they know what they are doing and have the ability to boss people around. 

 

While this may be a rp server and a video game it is by no means designed for little children or meant to appear to that target audience, with a bulk of the server in their 20s-30s. 

Being a police officer is a high stress job as shown in this peer reviewed scientific article.

Stress is mostly managed by the development of the frontal lobal (prefrontal cortex). (See image 1)

This image shows that this functioning of the brain for stress, reasoning, and many factors that play into being a police officer come from this portion of the brain. 

Image 2 is a snippet of a scientific journal explaining the brain development specifically about the frontal lobe in teenagers. 

This snippet describes how teenagers may be able to cope with stress in calm situations, but in fast paced situations and high stress environments they react much more poorly. 

 

 

My suggestion is to demote all those under the age of 18 in PD command to senior officer and limit all supervisor roles to those above the age of 18. While this is still not an ideal age, this age marks legal adulthood. 

 

I also think we should strongly enforce the no one below the age of 16 in PD and actively discharge all those under that age.

Again my suggestion is to allow no one to bypass it. So it is not already a thing. It is also not very strictly enforced.

Did you know that we are playing a video game? The entire server has, long ago, been allowing teenagers to hold positions in all manner of high stress positions. Bosses of legitimate companies, police, criminal faction leaders, etc.

My honest suggestion is to grow the fuck up and get over it. Kids also find it odd to hang out with grown ass men online and they aren’t necessarily wrong for feeling that way. 

RP is supposed to mean we only let enough bleed in to hold ourselves to a basic standard of decency when playing with younger people and we don’t do weird shit when kids are around and keep weird shit to a minimum because they could be around at anytime. Many adults have a hard time with this but we have to deal with it and cope so just get in line. That’s what being online and RPing on a game will always entail until you go join 18+ and 21+ RP servers which still aren’t perfect and are usually full of degenerates who replace real life with RP. So, pick your poison.

I was a corporal in PD at 13 and I can real quickly deny some of your points and facts here 1st it is not stressful what so ever it is garrys mod I am not stressing to the point of a mental breakdown. 2nd I  know the brain don't fully develop till 25 but still I think I've seen some full grown adults above the age of 25 or very near the age of 25 be more of a drooling idiot than I think I ever have been or could be.  (Just want to add on I think any one who thinks this is more immature most kids on here cause your telling me YOU a grown ass man is bitching and crying about a kid playing a video game like be fr)

I also used to be a IA Corporal in 2021 (I was 13 at the time), it's all about maturity. There are a LOT of grown ass men who can't match the maturity of a 14yo.

Trigger I don't know I have never met you. But yet you shit talk me a lot cause I was a under age corporal and I just want to add on to your statement yes it is decided but captain and others but it is not "oh yeah we don't give a shit just stay" when I first started for me to stay as an underage officer I had to do an interview, I had to be probie for a bit longer. Pretty much it's already strict but they allow it if you can just do the job and not be retarded

Hi dude I’m 17 and I am the master cert trainer of the bureau of special operations and it’s one of the most stress free jobs I’ve done in pd my job is to make sure everyone does there recertification every month and to cert people for there certification. This is a petty suggestion ngl and a retarded one stay mad dude.

The ruling is no one under the age of 16 can be a member of the NYPD and if any exceptions are made they must be made by a member of the board of administration. To which some cases have happened. This rule has been changed recently as when I joined the pd the rule was no one under then 14 I’ve been a member of the pd for over 2 years now. And I have rarely seen a problem with only the people under 18 have been immature as a supervisor I’ve seen more adults be immature and petty using there supervisor ranks. And they get delt with by the commissioner quite fast.
