Rumour changes

Right now, rumour is 60% saying retarded shit without facing RP consequences, and 40% being used properly. I think there could be a few ways to go about changing this. 

1 - Its removal entirely, and adding a system similar to the city board for creating an actual marketplace for criminals, and then enabling OOC. (The OOC part is optional)

2 - Adding a cooldown, to incentivize using it for its intended purpose, and enforcing misuse

3- Creating a flag for it, and whenever someone misuses it, they lose access for x amount of time based on the severity of the punishment.

 

It'll also make the server seem more serious to newer players, not seeing a glorified ooc chat going off with stupid messages 24/7

+1  Servers becoming a DarkRP. Option 1 is good but bring back ooc might not be the best shout. option 3 also sounds good. Maybe a mix of the first parts of both. 

- A market Place system that are flags given to crim faction members. They could then be taken away when misused.

I think a market place detracts from spur of the moment RP deals which rumour generally facilitates quite nicely

A cooldown wouldn't really reduce retarded messages by much and any significant cooldown impacts the usefulness of /rumour and what people enjoy using it for. (Yes even if that means anonymously talking shit a lot)

The most likely option is just creating a staff command to restrict someone's access to /rumour, similar to a timed mute, maybe that paired with a filter to block certain OOC / Retarded terms would help. Taking suggestions on terms that show up often that shouldn't be used.

Honestly just remove it, people constantly say people need to talk to each other more but never want to implement changes that force that, removing rumour forces people to communicate, forces RP. Let players drive the black market, factions could set up their own black markets and shit, it would be fire

Plus it gets rid of the retarded zero rp shit that makes up like 95% of rumours

The anonymous shit talking is overdone and creates a borderline ooc chat, it's always just "haha faction is this and that, join a real faction"

maybe blacklist faction names, or something similar? The chat is 1 of the biggest problems on diverge, and it would be a great start if players had some sort of consequence for saying retarded shit in rumour 

 

not just ooc terms, but the constant autistic sperg attacks too

I think the flag option would be the best.

People say stupid shit over rumour all the time because they think it's completely anonymous like staff can't see who is posting them. For example, last night I muted two people for saying "Askull is a lispy retard".

Using OOC terms IC in a small group of people is one thing, but retards will use rumour to type stupid OOC shit to get attention from the majority of the server. If we had flags, this wouldn't be such an issue.

Slightly +1 on the idea of having flags that can be removed - but then again if they are gonna be removed from someone wouldn't that warrant them being muted and/or banned for it? 

 

I guess this can be an alternative punishment, particularly during war time, it will be quite handy to have.

rumour never gets used for actual business anymore anymore and flag enforcement or just staff simply actually enforcing it could really fix that

this suggestion would never need to be considered if staff just locks in
