Bonkers Staff Application

big note real quick I could really put all the effort I got into making a perfect staff app that honestly conveys all I have to say, but that'll be pretty short of what I have to meet in the application requirements; a lot of what I have to say is a lot simpler than I'm allowed to be

I wanna be staff so there's less burden on the others that just wanna play already, so people are not waiting 30 minutes or longer for one ticket to be taken; that was my experience today and it sucks

Long Answer
Questions proceeded with an asterix require a response of 3 Sentences Minimum.

What is your motivation/reason for applying?:  * I absolutely hate the wait time that I and everyone else goes through for the most basic stuff. I love you guys and I appreciate how much bullshit you tolerate for the server to keep going but the bane of my existence on this server is 3 staff on and a minge situation. 
Why should you be considered over other candidates?:  * I have fucked up in every possible way so if somebody genuinely fucks up or is just playing coy then I'll know which it is and what to do
Do you have any previous staffing experience? (Please list where, what position and how long): mostly 1942 larp (yuck), most knockoff servers
Have you been banned before on any of our servers? If so, why?: yes, a couple of times
Would you say that you are well known in our community, what's your reputation, what do other members think of you?:  * very 50/50, some people like me some people don't
What is your favourite moment on Diverge so far?: I can't really think of a favorite moment, I just love being here cuz everyone is so real and we can fuck around enough for a roleplay server to have fun
Have any staff members recommended you? If so, list their names: not a chance lmao

Problem Solving
Detail step by step exactly the actions you would take.

Someone RDMs and you are currently off-duty. How do you handle this?: if nobody else takes it I'll go on and deal with it; sometimes RDM is actually a PK that was kept down low so if I'm not allowed to carry out PKs I'd make a callout and continue my shit
You have seen a fellow staff member of higher or equal rank than you abusing fairly often, but never doing anything too noticeable. What do you do?: if it's a fun kind of abuse like welding a couch to the top of their lamborghini I'm letting that shit fly cause that's actual fun but if somebody goes as far as to armor their car that's a nono and I snitch
A member of your faction / friend of yours has a ticket made against them accusing them of RDM’ing, and minging. You know that this person rarely does this when you play with him. How do you proceed knowing this? Does it constitute possible bias?: I proceed as I would with anyone else; I tolerate absolutely no bias in administrative stuff, that shit is meant to be the moves behind the scenes that keeps us running; if you break the rules that's on you, and as much as I like you, you've fucked up and now I have to belt you

edit: I would always ASK for the video of what happened first; if logs contradict what anyone says and there's no video, then innocent until proven guilty applies

You’re a good guy and think you hold good potential for staff but you’ve never really presented yourself well in RP or day to day general interactions    +/-

I do my best to avoid the bad part of the game here, I don't enjoy getting mugged or dying so I've avoided trouble as much as I can

as uninteresting as that might sound, at least I'm safe from what would leave me sour

I think there are aspects of this application that could be improved.

This for example, is a very straight forward question. What Im reading is, if the ticket is up, Ill take it. Well of course thats what we want you to do but how do you handle the situation? The PK stuff doesn't add anything its just a non-sequitur.

Other than that I would just say this isnt a bad staff application or that you arent capable, I just see very little critical thinking to some of the questions asked. Critical thinking will become a big part of how you handle sits and deal with staff intervention.

you're right, I'll add on to them from here;

1. If somebody RDMs and I'm off duty, I don't handle it; I get ON duty and find out the whole situation, a lot of RDM could be an actual hit playing out and I don't want to act on what people don't make a ticket for UNLESS it's just blatant rulebreaking (i.e. mass VDM).

For a better step by step, I begin THIS process if the ticket is made;

1. I ask the ticketer what happened and who might be involved

2. I ask the involved persons including the ticketer for a clip of the situation (I do not bother anybody who needs to be brought until I can confirm they are outside of a roleplay situation)

3. If a clip is provided, I review. If not, and there's any kind of dispute or argument between parties in what happened, then I dismiss. If it's only an argument based on what the situation is, this can be solved by actually reviewing the rules for both parties to understand what happened. Teach if possible, but if one party doesn't accept the outcome, I can do nothing about it.

 

Second,

If a staff member abuses, since it really is down to the T, I'll report the abuse. Getting any advantage from being staff, icly, is bullshit; I was thinking in the realm of doing fun stuff that staff are usually only able to do, but aren't really harmful

there's not a lot that you can do as staff with your powers icly that wouldn't end up being abuse and/or powergame, so I think it's fair we keep a short leash on that type of stuff
