I think it would be an interesting idea to allow felons to carry alternative IDs that appear the same as standard IDs, so they aren’t immediately singled out during cops routine check and it doesn't limit them on whether they can buy guns or not. These IDs would be designed so that regular officers couldn’t easily tell the difference during routine interactions. As well as would allow felons to carry weapons and potentially buy guns, as well as to balance it out its still going to be risky and expensive to get a forgery copy. As well as they can set what they want on it, and the more modifications they want, the more challenging it's going to be to get the forgery copy. Just to have a clean non-felon would be the cheapest forged id to get, but then moving to it, also saying a different name, gun license, whether it has attachment tamp, etc would get more complicated and more challenging to retrieve. However, to make it so cops can catch it, higher-ranking or specially authorized officers (such as corporals+) would have a specific tool, like a specialized device that allows them to verify whether the ID is standard or forged when necessary. This way, identification remains discreet while still giving law enforcement a controlled method of verification, and also gives a chance for felons to carry a gun, etc.
