  1. I wrote the orders on you. first off, you retired over OOC shit saying Gmod isnt for you anymore before we could even ask you what was going on. We never gave you approval to retire. You just left. Weeks go by, and you are saying you want to come back, which means you havent been paying into anything for the weeks you left. Then you flat out told our Head Enforcer that if we dont let you back in you will mug or kill HC to get what you want. You said this in the city to him IC and it was clipped. Which is why we moved forward with the PK. You accept the risks of death when you enter this thing. There is even a little notification you agree to when you join.

  2. Hi, I'm so glad you asked. There's a lot of nuance that goes into it, and I'll focus on the player perspective rather than the staff perspective for the most part. Generally speaking, muggers are not actual longstanding characters who gravitate towards intense actual real RP. For instance, take a streetboss. Would a streetboss mug someone? Some would, but most of them wont. Would a kapo? Some would, most wont. In these roles, theres an extreme necessity to maintain your character so you can keep RP going smoothly within your faction. You're important. Your loss is devastating. Even for people who are associates who are high earners, and do a lot of restaraunt RP and RP with other factions, the loss is devastating. What *typically* happens, is muggers are people who dont care if they are pked at all. Like, when was the last time ever in the last 3 years, have you seen a mugger appeal getting pked? You haven't. Typically, they just dont give half a shit. And you might say, "Well, they know that they are cooked." But so do the people who break fear RP. It's cut and dry. Open and shut. Same with dons orders. But they all try to claw their way, bend the rules trying to get unpked. The only group that tends not to actually even care enough to appeal are people who mainly mug. Because the work that goes into re-obtaining your wealth is literally getting a pistol and a friend. For non muggers, its rebuilding, running drugs for weeks, doing actual RP to re-establish themselves in the community, oftentimes theres a rank restriction for upper faction members. It's very out of balance. Now, is that to say all muggers are like this? Obviously not. You have plenty of actual, real players who really RP a lot who do muggings. Take for instance, the colombos. Very dedicated players, very good RP. Some of them still mug. I've seen higher ranking colombos mug, to send a message. To gain something. It's relevant to their RP, they're not just "me want suit, me rob 12 people." When they're not mugging, which is often, they're doing actual roleplay and embellishing themselves into the community. Shout out colombos Also, to consider, even in instances in which someone isn't a mugging character , i.e. they've been around for a month and havent touched mugging at all, and then decide to mug, there's still a massive perceived power imbalance. Who do muggers target? People with the nicest suits. Oftentimes, its characters that are months and months, if not years old. The risk for the mugger is seen as much smaller. Now, from a staff perspective, that doesn't matter at all. But to the community, it matters a lot. From the staff perspective, our job is to try and balance the community perspective with the fairness of the rules. So we assess a lot of things when we decide whether or not someone who is mugging a lot is actually doing stuff that would justify them mugging so much. Are they roleplaying? Are they well established? We'll watch them, keep an eye on them. If all they do when they're not mugging is minge and be a retard and not actually put any real effort into roleplaying, then obviously its an extreme problem. Because you tip the scale to "Worthless" in terms of cultivating a really nice roleplay environment. Obviously, people mugging is fine. I actually encourage mugging. I think it keeps things generally fun for players, and adds actual risk. Same with police existing. Obviously, you need risk from other criminals and police otherwise this game is just cookie clicker. Pick up drugs, sell, rinse repeat until you can get a really cool suit and walk around town. That's boring. Nobody wants to admit it, but the police and hostile criminal RP is incredibly important to the experience of the player. But, in your case, you were more of the "Worthless" category.

  5. Hey man you were PKed for going MIA, not paying kickups, and threatening members of the family. Now, this PK is different because they did have some evidence against you! I did see a part of the clip where you basically say you're going to mug high command, you have some people that would do it for a certain amount of money, and if you leave, you're gonna take some custom clothing items. This was a threat to them, so these were all the reasons on why you were PKed!

  6. People hate it because you can lose items and suffer character destruction. People are punished for breaking the rules around mugging (which there are many) because each mug and the context behind it is generally nuanced. Using it to target people for pks (engaging with it in bad faith) using alt characters to mug avoiding all risk, only mugging and not roleplaying as a symptom of dark rp brain. Mugging is an integral part of criminal aspects of the server and even as controversial as it is or has been it remains a part of the game, but it has recognizably flawed attributes which are mediated and covered by rules. Engage with it properly and don't be surprised if you get banned for breaking a rule. Placing a bounty and incentivising people to mug someone where the explicit goal (incentive) is to get that person pked? (Circumventing roleplay and mass target mugging them in hopes they make a mistake and get penalized) The very nature and goal being to inflict harm and ruin the other persons roleplay. People will be understandably upset if they feel they were subject to unfair, ooc motivated, non rp driven targetting

  7. It usually depends on who you mug and how I've personally mugged a few people and I don't think anyone hates me for it lol? It's usually hated when all you do is mug or make it your "personality" in the server, mugging someone once in a blue moon is fine but just doing it multiple times a week, is to me absurd

Why should you be unPK'd? What server rule or PK rule was violated?: My intentions were not to mug or partake in the mugging, i was merely just standing by and watching and observing. i was not trying to partake in the mugging as i was really just along for the ride and merely seeing what was going on. Again this is my first time playing the game so i don't know what was going on and really was just watching and witnessing. for i had worked real hard to make a grind and join my current faction and i feel i was falsely lead into this trap that now led to me being PKed.

  10. +1 If RP is the concern, he is a good RPer especially if he needs to enforce shit. IIRC he came back recently from a short break and I have RPd with him a few times since his return (yes guys.. Howard larps...) If the mug was valid and he hasnt broken the timelimit.. I dont see a reason why he should be banned let alone perma'd. If he's a main character, has quite a few valuables and is ranked/made in his faction - mugging should be fair game despite the frequency being alarming cos it's high risk high reward; not like it's a new character doing this. People haven't seen this man work the fryer in the KFNC store - he's got grandma's touch.

  12. Hello, As the admin who accepted this PK already explained, the listed reasons for your character’s death were: going MIA on the family, failing to pay kickups, and threatening members of the family. The first two reasons may have some nuance behind them, especially given that you were removed from the faction discord and later tried to reach out about returning. Those details could have been explored further. However, the third point, you threatening members of the family, is entirely clear cut. The Don who ordered the PK provided a clip in which you explicitly stated that you would have faction members mugged or killed if they came after you. That is an unmistakable threat. Earlier in the thread you suggested that you may have been baited. I don’t believe that to be the case. They submitted a five minute clip with full context, and it convincingly shows that you weren’t coerced or manipulated into making those statements. Had you not made those threats, it’s possible this appeal may have gone differently. But that reason alone is fully valid grounds for ordering your character’s death.

  13. There's nothing wrong with mugging as long as it is within the server rules. It just one of those things that you HAVE to be knowledgeable about do at your own discretion.

  17. -1/+1 While I have no doubts you are an alright guy, you have not been around nearly enough to be put in a position on staff. The rules can be complex at times, and knowing them from experiencing them is the best way to learn. My personal opinion: Hang around a bit more, maybe try to implement your crim characters as well as pd more in verse situations to understand how the rules work on both sides.(I do not mean go break rules. Ask questions, get involved in situations) As staff you need to have an understanding of the rules that lets you show other people how they have done wrong and how they can adjust to fix it. One week is not nearly long enough to understand the way the server works. Your answers on some of the extended response questions also could go into more depth to show that you understand more of what you are getting into. Thats just my opinion though. As ive said many times before, if bullets, Jmoorsey, and shittor did it; anyone can.

  18. I actually think this would be a lot of fun. Definitely would need a lot of thought and edits whilst doing it. A few specific problems pop out to me: 1- A large faction(s) going against a smaller faction(s). Ways that this could be fixed though is if instead of one big spot, pair up factions who have similar activity on one spot and have multiple spots around the city. To encourage activity during the event if you dont meet a minimum amount of people on, your faction will not receive a spot to defend/obtain. 2- Police camping the hill spots. I feel multiple spots would help to reduce the pressure from police, but it could also be avoided by having the spots in really off the wall places such as the Barge, the train tracks, a portion of the tunnels, or a section of the sewers. For the event you could implement KOS on police without chance for PK. Not completely eliminating the risk of legal trouble as the KOS would only activate if the member of police saw you commit a felon level offence. (Kinda aids for police, but this is a mafia server and the racket events are centered towards crim factions.) Or just have a rule against camping and metagaming spots. There have been rules like this in the past, but on this scale of event it would probably have to be more heavily enforced. 3- Breaking NLR The big problem I see is mostly with the factions with smaller activity. If you start w a 4 v 4 and there is a big shootout where one side wins and takes out the whole other faction that means that the faction cant return back to the spot for the 15m NLR timer. Which means the other faction would be sitting there with no risk due to being protected by the NLR rules for normal server play. To get around this problem the NLR timer could be set down to 5 minutes until you can reengage at your assigned spot. I cant really think of any other kind of solution so if you think of any please reply lol. 4- Teaming I feel with teaming you would have to go all in or none at all. None at all meaning every faction fighting for themselves, and all in meaning programming certain spots for multiple groups being assigned as teams. (ex. Lucchese + Kosher + Cassano vs Bonnano + Altoviti + Gambino) I dont know which would be more beneficial and fun, I dont have enough experience running events to know which would run more smoothly. I dont have anything to say for the other events, King of the hill looks the most fun to me. Good discussion idea +1

  21. On a realistic level, 10 bricks(Which is what we can carry in our back pocket) is usually 20lbs+. It doesn't make much sense to be hauling more than that. Most cases of drugs being seized off of one person and not a group/boat/vehicle is under 10 bricks as well(irl situations). If you want to haul more bricks at a time, take a car and risk the chance of it getting lockpicked. I don't think that having a drug bag would be realistic at all, because icly if you are carrying around 10 bricks in RP you'd probably already have a bag. A big reason that gun bags were added was to conceal weapons, not to be able to carry more of them. -1

  24. It makes sense. I think a lot of civilian "mains" get too comfortable doing things that would be considered mingy or just NITRP if it was someone in a faction that did it. IE accusing someone of having a gun, or making 911 calls about certain things. In a crim faction it's easy to handle that via dons orders, but for random civis were kinda powerless. Huge +1

  32. All you do is dress in a kfc outfit, mug and minge. Everyone acknowledges that. You add nothing to the server. You mugged 9 people in the past 2 weeks, and have been seen just roaming around looking for people to mug all day, or wearing a KFC outfit doing retard shit. You have 21 POs for various reasons, and you're genuinely not providing any productive RP to the server. In a UA ticket, you said "no I rp because I get paid to mug people", but that's not RP. If you actually RPed *and* got paid to mug people, it wouldn't be a problem. But getting "paid to mug" is the only RP you could think of. Obviously, you can still be a mugging char as a main character. Because all you do is mug. Accepting this appeal would be a tragedy to the community.

  33. No im actually really biased towards the DAs office that fired me, because I have a judge char. Im also really biased against the mega alliance and am super commission main. Its definitely not that the seasoned admins and seniors have been watching these guys for a while now, and seeing them just roam around looking to mug people or minging around the city. Its not like they've mugged 9+ people in the past couple of weeks and add nothing to the server except mugging and being minges. You'll also notice we only banned 2 of the like 5 of them, so obviously the others weren't guilty of this. But im schrodingers bias, at any given moment im biased both for and against my mega alliance, both for and against the DAs office and both for and against the NYPD. As I stated in the court discord gen chat, its totally fine to mug the DA, and actually really funny to do so. If that was the problem, *all* of them would be banned. But its just not the problem. Its the mugging and minging and doing nothing else. Also shout out to @MrlogicNova for the hot take of "+1 I’ve been doing business with alabaster for some time on this char and my Colombo selling him guns I see him on that char frequently no chance he’s a mugging char." ah yes. He can't be a mugging char. I sell him guns. For his muggings and minging. And I see him on that char a lot. Granted, hes mugging and minging, but he is on that char.

  36. I don't think I've had problems with this, whenever someone tries to meet me I just ask who it was and deny it. Maybe just try to tell them no, or just move to a different location for a bit. Tbh names arent really that big of a deal if no one cares who you are, and once you get towards mid command people are going to know who you are just based on your reputation. I don't think there needs to be a whole feature just to disable it.

  44. Really, though? I wonder why people hate a hardcore aspect of a game that is almost never engaged with in a balanced or good faith manner- by people who have nothing to lose? Why would someone who has a 2-4 year old character hate a system that’s as brutal as it gets in which someone with a day old character can exploit to cause long lasting or permanent damage to, potentially leading to catastrophic loss (permanent death)? Jeez, I just wonder why someone would have an issue with that? Why are so many bans issued and why do staff who care about the rules and the spirit of the game so adamant about enforcing rules around this thing that’s so easily exploited and used to harass people, target people for OOC/out of game reasons, and literally financially harm people? I just don’t understand why? Please, explain? Why is dickless, coward behavior not rewarded and rooted for? The cool faction leader dudes told me it made me badass and I have aura, so why is the rest of the server so mad? And why do these nerds want to RP? Fucking losers just standing around? Lol? How am I supposed to make money in this game? Why am I banned?
