I always thought it would be nice to have a server that is sort of like the build server accept, its sole purpose would be for players to test out the different weapons on the server and generally practice pvp. This could also be good for reducing random gunfights happening when people get bored (iykyk). could also be good for events.2 points

Instead of relying on physically typing or pressing binds for "/me pats for wires, guns badges etc.." and manual/binded responses being /me has none. I propose utilising the same system cops use to check for medical injuries but for wires/badges/guns etc. The current method has potential ways of being semantically bypassing these checks despite being in possession of said items being looked for i.e "/me They find none" or people argue they havent /me looks.. in particular locations carefully which has happened in the past, but also relies on an honour system for the RP [which if used incorrectly can void RPs once they have progressed] As it stands i don't believe the wires used by cops is a physical one but one that is invented and continued in people imagination (correct me if im wrong) but should one get added would further enhance the RP as there's a physical thing to search for. But as recent suggestions are going onto 'enhancing RP' this suggestion should help. On the C menu you can have an option for "pat down" - it would begin with someone giving permission to be patted down; once accepted an out put of "[name] starts patting down [other persons name]' shows and after about a 5-10 second pat down you get a cue response of "you find nothing" or "you find a M1911"; "you find a radio, Glock 17, a wire" etc.. This further also reduces the demand and need of searching peoples inventory too - particularly during faction meetings/events etc. Now you can spice it up a bit and perhaps make it a luck thing too where sometimes perhaps the person patting down may ''over look a specific place they're patting down'' and may incorrectly output a response "has none" despite the person having a gun, for example, but may be super rare or can be influence by being in recent fights/chases. [but this can open up a can of worms where minges may just punch someone in order to shift odds eversoslighty in their favour so it would be wise to have checkers inside behind the main security ] Now of course you could break this into a thorough pat down or a quick patdown but how that's achieved would need some thought. What do yall think? Just some food for thought.2 points

Often I am finding that there are PKs and shootouts in the city and the police fail to clean up the crime scene. There will be blood spatter and chalk outlines leftover in the city for days. I have heard people joke about this but this is actually not a bad idea. What if the city government contracted out clean up crews from local businesses around town? The local business is hired to go and clean up the scenes around the city to keep the streets clean, and in return they are compensated.1 point

Hi man! You were PKed for disregarding orders given to you by your captain, disrespecting your captain and your allies, and general incompetence displayed throughout your time there.1 point

Hey guys adding onto Adam’s stuff with the removal of the comp command like we are actively arguing and going at eachother (staff) rn its crazy. I think there could be a new system in how guns work, pendred stated 90% of comps or something are due to people having weapons equipped ALL the time, and that is true, I mean I have a skorpion equipped at all times too, I’m guilty. Theres not a-lot RP wise you can go off of with equipping/unequipping weapons however. I think we should add /me’s for equipping a weapon, you aren’t allowed to go off the sound of a weapon being equipped in an RP sense (if I remember that correctly) and something like /me moves a 1911 into the waistband of my pants or something similar could really help in some cases like imagine you’re arguing with a guy, you see he equips a gun, and you really gotta think “is it worth it continuing with this, do I wanna take the risk of also equipping my firearm” (that maybe wont get comped) As it stands now, pulling a firearm is so incredibly easy, and most guns (that aren’t rifles) have near-instant fire times if they aren’t on safety, could make muggings, hits, shooting in self defense or escalation, firing at police, more of a calculated thing, and with the addition of a /me you could react in an IC fashion. If I think I’m about to die because a faction has a hit on me, and I hear someone equip a gun so I kill him, it’s RDM. If I *see* him equip it however… maybe not.1 point

Could also open up some cool attachments like weapon slings or something to decrease draw time etc? I think adding more to the gunplay, especially now attachments are back, would be great. I also think gun bags should show on your back, but not class as probable cause for a search by police Otherwise you can be interacting with a guy who has a whole AK stuffed in his trouser pockets, as far as you're aware1 point
-
oh man, what if these hitmen guys also enforced faction stuff and rules, maybe they could be called enforcers or something1 point
-
Yeah no one is getting comped for failing a gun fight, or RP escalation, I have literally never seen a ticket that suggests someone's tried to either This suggestion also doesn't consider actual RDM or VDM at all It's not whether you should 'consider the weight of drawing your weapon' when you get ran over from behind at mach speed by a random white shirt You're locked in on the specific instance of RDM baiting, that's not enough grounds to remove a system that is 99% of the time used for completely different scenarios -1 Terrible suggestion1 point

Maybe an addition i'd put on this suggestion would be fixed contract template items, rather than google docs like the typewriter uses For example, in City Hall there is a legal supplies vendor who sells contract templates, they could be: Sale/Purchase Agreement Lawyer Contract or probably a few other options- Then they are a nice IC template of a contract with places left out for Item Category/Money Amount etc. and then at the bottom Name and Signature of each party (auto filled via your char id upon signing) These can then be used via factions IC-ly to enforce missed fees for Lawyers, or missed payments on custom clothing or guns, and have a purpose in PK sits Could also be used in other Legal RP scenarios for things like Oil Coupons, Police ticketing, Fines, Bills at restaurants even I think it'd be cool, the more Diverge interactions that can be pulled away from a Google Docs tab the better imo1 point

MAN PLS +1 PLS BIGGEST PLUS 1 EVER. Deadass pendred a PvP server would be so fun to play. Doesn’t need to be for testing gun builds. Would be fine using any random guns like every time you die you spawn in with something new and every time u kill someone u get points and with points u can buy better guns0 points

So like... If we are sending hitmen out then we need a top guy, a guy incharge of those guys.. A guy who can I dunno.. Give them orders?0 points

-1 not bad a thought, but imo fighting shouldn't be well practiced. you're either seasoned or you're not; that should be your character. no trying to practice bhopping, strafing, and ADADADAD spamming trying to matrix hop over bullets with a movement-damage weapon build based entirely off numbers and meta that you've practiced for hours on end. if its worth that much to you, buy what you need IC and practice that way0 points

To The Diverge Networks Administrative Team that is receiving this letter from me. I submit this letter with complete respect and humility to request a review of my permanent ban from the 1980s Mafia Roleplay server on Garry’s Mod which Diverge Networks operates. I understand the extent of my rule-breaking activities which included FailRP and RDM and VDM and metagaming and powergaming and NLR violations and exploiting and harassment and staff disrespect and others. I present myself with complete remorse while providing a detailed account of my development process. This letter presents my genuine request for server readmission through my demonstration of accountability and my commitment to become a valuable member of your distinctive RP community. I must start by accepting full responsibility for all my actions. The server ban resulted from my continuous violation of essential rules which harmed the trust between staff members and players and contradicted the fundamental values of your server. My Wrongdoings: FailRP (Fail Roleplay): I broke character rules multiple times through actions that contradicted my character and the authentic 1980s Mafia RP setting. I broke character rules to avoid RP consequences while using OOC information and logic during IC interactions and performing unrealistic actions that harmed the immersive environment which Diverge Networks excels at creating. RDM (Random Death Match): I killed other players without proper RP reasons which led to player frustration and game disruption. The behavior I displayed harmed the roleplaying experience because it broke down the trust that players have in the game's balanced gameplay and storyline. VDM (Vehicle Death Match): I used vehicles as weapons to harm players without following any valid RP guidelines. The action disrupts the game world by removing player agency and narrative progression while being unrealistic for the RP setting. NLR (New Life Rule) Violations: I violated the NLR rule by returning to my death location after resurrection and by using pre-death knowledge to guide my actions during interactions with other players. The practice of ignoring memory wipes and RP continuity rules creates an experience that contradicts the immersive nature of RP servers. Exploiting: I used bugs and glitches to gain personal benefits instead of reporting them to the server administrators. The server's integrity and fairness for all players suffer when players exploit system flaws. Other Infractions: My previous behavior included breaking every fundamental rule of the rulebook through baiting and LTAP and prop abuse and additional violations. My repeated rule-breaking demonstrated my complete disregard for both written rules and the social rules that maintain a healthy RP community. I present these confessions to show my genuine remorse rather than justifying my actions. I share this information to establish trust through complete disclosure about my past actions. The Community Suffered from My Actions My rule-breaking activities caused harm to multiple players who experienced negative impacts from my actions. The community suffered from my rule-breaking because it disrupted the shared storytelling experience that 1980s Mafia RP servers provide to their players. My RDM and VDM actions caused unjustified character deaths to players which led to wasted time and lost creativity and possibly drove some players to leave the game permanently. The staff members had to dedicate their limited moderation time to handle my continuous disobedience which prevented them from supporting the entire community. The server faced multiple rule violations from me which made other players view rule-breaking as acceptable behavior while damaging the detailed collaborative structure Diverge Networks spent time building. A player exists to experience the world, but they must also protect its core values which benefit all users. My failure to fulfill my duties as a player resulted in damage to the staff and player base and the core values of Diverge Networks. Confronting Immaturity and Entitlement My current self must deal with two major issues which are my immature behavior and my belief that I deserve special treatment. The combination of my rule-breaking behavior and defensive reactions when caught now appears completely unacceptable to me. I used to treat the server as my personal playground without understanding its nature as a dynamic social space where creators and moderators work to achieve excellence. The server existed as my personal playground until I discovered its complex nature as a community of real people who worked to achieve excellence. The behavior went beyond being a bad sport because it involved a complete abandonment of the shared duties which sustain enduring online communities. The rules exist to support creative activities and maintain fairness and enjoyment for all players. I have dedicated numerous hours to study both the Diverge Networks server rules and additional resources about positive RP practices across different gaming platforms. I have studied the written reflections from banned players who either regained access to the server or lost their access permanently. The process of genuine growth requires people to shift from denying their actions to taking full responsibility for their mistakes. Through my involvement in roleplay support forums I have learned about how players value immersive experiences and respectful interactions and coherent storytelling. I have learned about collaborative practices and trust development through my dialogues with experienced RPers who have faced previous bans. The practice of assuming another character's perspective which used to be selfish now requires me to show respect for both my own enjoyment and the experiences of others. The understanding of each rule as a product of community wisdom about successful collaborative storytelling has transformed my perspective. Admitting What Can’t Be Unsaid I understand that trust restoration requires me to acknowledge all my past mistakes instead of trying to hide them. I understand that staff members have the right to protect the community through their strict monitoring activities. I submit this letter to start my process of redemption while hoping to regain access to the community as a player who will bring value to its members. My feelings of remorse become meaningless without developing specific actions to transform my behavior. I have studied all my past mistakes and created specific measures to stop future rule-breaking based on Diverge Networks' rules and RP community standards. Preventing FailRP and Staying in Character Old Behavior: I broke character rules multiple times for quick laughs and to skip IC penalties. New Commitment: I will stay in character at all times while using /ooc or /looc channels only for essential clarifications according to server rules. I will perform a character assessment before each action to determine if my 1980s New York character would behave in that manner. I will ask experienced players or staff members for help when I am unsure about my actions. Respecting NLR and the Flow of RP Old Behavior: Returning to the scene of death, pursuing conflicts from a prior life, or rejoining ongoing RP as though nothing happened. New Commitment: I will strictly observe the NLR, refraining from returning to the scene or re-engaging any participants until the specified period has elapsed, and all RP memory is appropriately wiped. This applies not only to my actions but to any knowledge or in-game evidence from the prior 15 minutes, in accordance with your detailed policies. Avoiding RDM and VDM Old Behavior: I started fights and caused vehicle damage without proper story context while acting on impulse. New Commitment: I will perform violent actions and vehicle-based attacks only when there exist proper RP-based reasons that exist according to your detailed rule set (e.g. when self-defense becomes evident through previous threats or escalating RP). I will choose to avoid violence by using dialogue instead of physical conflict, and I will ask staff for approval before taking any action. Respecting NLR and the Flow of RP Avoiding Exploiting and Rule-Bending Old behavior: The player breaks game rules by using system flaws and server bugs to achieve personal benefits while ignoring staff notifications. New Commitment: I will immediately notify staff about any game bugs or unbalanced mechanics I discover even though it might create temporary disadvantages for me. My role as a member requires me to support server improvement for all players instead of trying to outsmart the system. Understanding Community Values The core foundation of Diverge Networks' 1980s Mafia RP consists of four essential elements which include respect and immersion and collaboration and shared narrative. The game system grants players complete freedom to develop meaningful stories while simultaneously requiring them to protect the game world for all other players. The entire rule set exists to maintain the authentic 1980s New York underworld atmosphere in the game world. The shared fictional world requires players to maintain their characters and avoid using out-of-character knowledge and to stay within the established narrative. Respect: Mutual respect is non-negotiable. All conflicts between players should be resolved through in-character interactions or by seeking assistance from staff members. The breakdown of trust between players through harassment and disrespect and antagonistic behavior destroys the foundation of a functional RP environment. Collaboration: Stories are co-authored. The actions and creative input of all players hold equal importance in the game. The practice of imposing forced outcomes or blocking others from responding or taking the spotlight for personal gain violates the fundamental principles of RP. Transparency and Accountability: I recognize that errors will happen but I will take full responsibility for them as I have done in this statement. The best communities develop through open communication and continuous learning instead of protecting personal interests and avoiding responsibility. These values are now my own. I will maintain these values through my actions and serve as a positive example to other players if I receive permission to return to the server. Conclusion and Final Request I understand that my previous actions cannot be reversed through words alone. Through these words, I demonstrate my transformation into a new player who will respect the community values which led to my removal. I want to earn back your trust by showing my dedication to building an improved and equitable community through my actions. I appreciate your thorough evaluation of my appeal because I have presented my case with complete dedication. I stand ready to answer any additional questions you might have about my situation. I appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate my growth through positive actions while helping build an improved community regardless of your final decision. I remain grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate my remorse through this letter. Hello, I am the man that mugged you, while yes you showed the place you were gunned down at, the mugging was initiated in the church cemetery in which I saw you go into alone, I pointed my Famas at you inside of the cemetery and told you to put your hands up multiple times. However, either through gumption or just pure obliviousness you just ran straight by me and refused to listen, which me shooting you abides by the mugging rules.-2 points
