Omerta Posted Friday at 04:08 AM Share Posted Friday at 04:08 AM We all know visual bugs, especially with characters are numerous- whether eyes are rolling around or cigarettes stick out of your nose, a lot of it can’t be helped and we should be using our imaginations anyways and tolerate what we can. What I’m wondering, and this may not be the right place (and this may be more like something in the donation direction) is if we can make tickets for certain graphical bugs that drive us nuts in City especially with custom clothing. Faction glasses that won’t fit my face, popular hats used universally that my hair clips through, overcoats that clip through horribly if I’m not standing completely still- the visual issues are numerous and I’m not asking for the impossible or for a time sink of addressing every player’s model for every issue but what if I simply want my character’s hair to change so that it’s comparable with hats better when they’re worn versus when he isn’t wearing one? I’m pretty sure that’s doable and not too difficult but I also don’t know 100% due to inexperience first hand in gmod specifically. tl;dr can you guys maybe fix some hats/head hair and glasses for some heads at some point? Maybe just per player request in a low priority queue for City updates? even if not, thanks for the game guys. anzati1 Posted Friday at 11:39 AM Share Posted Friday at 11:39 AM a lot of the head models don't have glasses or hat bones, this is a custom bone position for hats and glasses to merge into, therefore we need to tie it to the head bone. problem with head bone is that not every head has the same shape or size, not even remotely the same height from headbone to top of the head sadly. ONTOP of that, not all hats or glasses use the hat bone or glasses bone. it would be a lot of work to convert these hats and glasses to use different bones. also, generally a lot of hats and glasses are made to fit male 09, since its the most popular male head model. 3 Link to comment

Forgive my ignorance, and you’ve been extremely insightful thus far, but is the “it’s a lot of work” actually unreasonable to ask for at all? Is the entire idea simply folly or “too much”? Is the entire idea simply folly or “too much”? when i make custom headmodels, for male at least, i use male 09 as a base making sure the eye and nose level are even so at least glasses fit without distorting the face, hats are a different story seeing as thats when head shape and hair come into play. if we were to edit all models to be able to use a larger majority of glasses, hats and have necks fit suits, it would require us putting the model into blender, attaching it onto a skeleton with both glasses and hat bones, fixing eye level, fixing headshape to the best we can without distorting it, slim the neck down to fit similarly to male 09, add flex controllers to stop infinite eye rotation, and then compile everything too, not to mention if i were the one doing this then i'd also go and do the same for all female models. while the list seems short through text, the process is much more time consuming than you might think with the amount of headmodels there are accessible not including custom models. while yes, it could be possible to do, it brings the question of who currently in the modelling team would be willing to do it and has the time to do it all. take everything i say with a grain of salt im still new to modelling and im still learning, if im wrong about anything anzati can correct me Link to comment
