4Lights
Hello banning staff here. From examining the clip, it looked intentional to me. You sped past the vehicle, then went full speed backed up into the car. Even continuing backing up after he died. While this is not always going to blow up the vehicle, in this situation you initiated and followed through and caused a death. You had previous offenses for the same thing and your behavior in the sit, I believed to be mingey and lack any sort of remorse. Simply insisting it wasn't your fault and refusing to take any sort of responsibility for the incident that you caused. You currently have 6 bans and 2 notes in 11 months, if this was a first offense, I would have been more lenient. But considering that, and I don't believe this to be an accident or bug. I think this was more than fair. Edited 3 hours ago by 4Lights 1 Link to comment

The appeal process starts with the banning staff, who responds to why they banned the person and is processed by another staff member without their involvement in the final say. 6 minutes ago, GoodDog594 said: look at the clip so that is not a bug then You are actively backing up on this clip, the model clipping slightly because of it. Is not a bug. Link to comment

4Lights
There could be a number of reasons. Typically the hitbox isn't the same as the model, here is a full explanation from ai. Quote In Half-Life 2, when a car clips into another car while in use, it usually happens due to limitations in the Source Engine's physics system. Here's a breakdown of the main reasons: 1. Simplified Collision Models Vehicles and other objects often use simplified collision hulls (not exact geometry) to improve performance. When two complex objects like cars interact, these hulls can intersect or "clip" through each other, especially at high speeds or odd angles. 2. Physics Engine Precision The Source Engine uses the Havok physics engine, which, while advanced for its time (2004), can have issues: At high velocities, objects might "tunnel" through others due to insufficient collision checks per frame. If frame rate drops, collision detection becomes less reliable, increasing the chance of clipping. 3. Lack of Vehicle-Vehicle Collision Handling Half-Life 2's vehicles were not primarily designed for realistic, frequent vehicle-on-vehicle interaction. Their physics were optimized for player-environment interaction more than for vehicle collisions. 4. Improper Constraints or Parenting If a vehicle or prop is scripted or improperly constrained (e.g., parented to something else), it might override normal collision behavior. This happens more often in modded maps or when using the physics gun in Garry's Mod. 5. Network Lag or Prediction Errors (in Multiplayer/Mods) In Garry's Mod or multiplayer mods: Vehicles might appear to clip into others due to lag, poor prediction, or desync between server and client. 4Lights
Hey, sorry but this is not a situation, that will typically be handled in a support VC. Please wait for another staff to respond. EDIT: To be clear, because it's an appeal and has been ruled upon already. Edited 2 hours ago by 4Lights Link to comment
