Length of ban: Originally a 2 week ban, switched to perma, seemingly due to power tripping behavior.
Reason for appeal (dispute/apology): dispute, and an apology.
Why should you be unbanned?
I want to start by acknowledging that I was originally pulled into a sit by JMZ and asked to stop calling another player (Drunken) a “child molester.” I complied without hesitation the moment I was told to stop. There was no argument besides freedom of speech, no further escalation on my part after that point. I respected the instruction from staff immediately.
The comment itself came during a heated moment after dealing with "Drunken" (Riggs, Morello, or however you know him). He came to the pd station instantly on dirt with me on his lawyer char, because on his Detective char he so badly wanted to get me fired. He came in instantly telling me how things were going to happen, and started telling me vulgar things about myself and how I did my job(he gets mad because things dont get handled his way) Consistently engaging in strange behavior uncalled for 100%. frequently surrounding himself with much younger kids in-game, and me mentioning that to him shouldn't hurt his feelings, when he quite literally gets on and says the hard R everyday. While the phrasing I used may have been out of line. I based it off of many observed in-game interactions and not tied to any real-world doxxed or private information. I never revealed any names, personal info, or actual private details. I do not believe this can be reasonably classified as a “privacy” violation.
Global rule 2 is clearly defined as not releasing restricted private information, I did not reveal anything private nor did publicize anything to anyone with an intent to ruin his image. Making a provocative statement back to defend myself may be aggressive on my end however is not leaking someone's private data.
Drunken, the player involved in the incident (Martin Riggs, Morello in this case), has a known reputation for relentless trash talk, hostility, and even targeting. He came into NYPD actively stirring the pot, disrespecting my role as an officer, and calling me names. Yet, his behavior seems consistently overlooked, while I deal with the harshest possible punishment, a perma ban.
Not once did I justify what I said, I did say freedom of speech, as I'm not wrong in those regards, I did stop everything trash talking when asked to. But guess who didn't, Drunken. As soon as I take him out of his cell when I came back from the original sit with JMZ, he instantly started talking heavy trash again. Its allowed on his end, he can call me anything in the dictionary, and get away with it.
I’ve been an active part of the community for a good amount of time. While I’ve had a couple of RDM-related issues in the past, I’ve never been involved in anything like this. I’ve contributed positively to the PD, helping with patrols, training, and assisting newer players regularly. My involvement in this server has been consistent, however I have recently been trying to work on not being such a crashout, and working along side certain people in the PD has helped that. Tremendously.
I’ve been an active member of the community for quite some time. not nearly as much time as the likes of someone like Drunken (I have 3weeks played) While I’ve had a few slip-ups in the past related to RDM, I’ve never been involved in anything of this nature. Lately, I’ve made a real effort to shift how I carry myself in game. I’ve been consistently contributing to the PD helping with patrols, assisting new players, and supporting training efforts. Working alongside certain members of the PD has honestly helped me grow out of that “crashout” mindset, and I’ve been making progress because of it.
Admittedly, I was on a temporary suspension from my ESU badge due to an incident where I deployed tear gas without orders and mouthed off during the situation. I owned up to that and had been actively working to get myself back on track, both in terms of attitude and discipline. With the goal of earning back my place as a reliable and effective operative. Unfortunately, that progress is completely gone now, not because of another genuine mistake, but because of clear favoritism and bias. It’s crazy to see personal relationships with admins and UA, override actual growth and contribution to the city.
As for the global rules, here is why I didn't break any of them.
Rule 1- Harassment / Hate Speech (Drunkens favorite one to break)
-I did not use any racial, homophobic, sexist, or any other discriminatory words.
-I did not look to create any violence with any individual involved, only matching the hateful energy that was brought into the PD by Drunken.
-What I said was an opinion based on the player’s in-game behavior. While it was blunt, it wasn’t targeted hate or harassment.
-I stopped immediately when asked, showing my willingness to de-escalate, Drunken did not.
Rule 2- Privacy (THE RULE I WAS BANNED FOR)
-Not a single bit of personal information was leaked in the event, at any point in time.
-My comment was based on in game behavior made in an ooc form because I was on duty, and he wasnt on the char he kept claiming to be. He was on morello, kept saying "its riggs"
-Nothing was “doxxed” or “leaked,” nor was there any effort to expose in OOC about private details. (even if he was 100% a convicted pedo, nothing was made of a real life scenario, not once)
-Accusations or insults, even harsh ones, made during our gameplay ooc or not, do NOT meet the threshold of a privacy breach under this rule.
Rule 3- Advertisement

Rule 4- Impersonation
-I did not impersonate anyone. In fact, another player, Drunken was claiming to be martin Riggs, when he was on his Morello luchesse char. I know this rule isnt necessarily linked to this form of impersonation, however he did use this to his advantage with other officers and lobbied them against me.
Rule 5, 6 , and 7 all N/a. Even the spamming part, I stopped when asked. Immediately.
All I ask is that this situation be looked at fairly, not through the lens of personal grudges or double standards. I’m not saying my phrasing was ideal, but I am saying that a permanent ban is excessive, especially when I complied with the original staff request and didn’t actually leak anyone’s private information.
I also would like to apologize to BoomRoasted for calling you dumb, and JMZ for saying you are the most hated staff member, those comments were made in the heat of the moment and were undeserved.
If a shorter ban or a warning is more appropriate, I’m willing to accept that and move forward.
