DopeAsRoe
Epictetus tells us: “Any person capable of angering you becomes your master; he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him.” Epictetus was born into slavery in the Roman Empire to a cruel master named Epaphroditus. One day Epictetus’ master was torturing him for amusement, he twisted his leg so far that it snapped and permanently disfigured Epictetus. Rather than end his own life or drown himself in pity, Epictetus forced himself to adopt a new outlook on the world. Even though his slave master could break his body, he could not break his mind. He faced slavery, disability, and later even exile from Rome. But the thing that got him through all of it, was his mindset. In other words, the lion cares not for the opinions of sheep. 1 Link to comment
