A detective came to SOS the other day and called us a gang and said he's going to take down our shitty gang, PK got denied. But I did get told that we're a known gang and it's their job to take us down so there is no wrong doing at all. However, I can't say we're a criminal org or PD would be all over my ass.

At no time should the death of a don kill a faction, you should be cultivating replacements for every high ranking position. That way if you get touched, its not even a problem. The only way they can *actually* kill a faction is to kill your activity, and thats entirely based on *you* giving up. 5. PKing detectives i could see why you'd say that. PKing Officers, I could see why you say that. Pking the DAs??? No. You know why? Because theres not enough fucking DAs. If they get pked, then the entire fucking system goes down. As for detectives, there should be a standard that if you do *excessive* stuff to a faction like blatantly threaten them, and harass them, they should be able to kill you. I'm tired of seeing riggs do advertisements about SOS, someone dome him please. 6. No bribes for the DAs office or judges. It's hard enough dealing with people who are obviously pro criminal because everyone has a crim main. We keep them uncorruptable because its the best, most viable option. They *need* some semblence of impartiality so that the court system actually *works*. If anyone can bribe their way out, everyone just sells a suit and bribes their way out.

yes in fact police do need to be stronger when it comes to policing and taking down criminal organizations but in turn police/judges/DAs need the fear of god aswell. Here’s my suggestion: Add back rico make it extremely difficult where you gotta run the faction like a retard for it to even be possible. (connected banks, high ranking member snitching for ic reasons, etc) Increase phone/building wiretapping by adding a physical item that can be deployed and hidden bigger legal hoops to jump through (registered business banks, proof of income, maybe an aggregate tax rate) this can also bring the possibility of tax fraud being an actual crime. tldr be a smart criminal and loose lips sink ships Government consequences for trying to take down a mafia org: Detectives/Officers/DAs that go after (arrest, warrant, etc) a caporegime or above (felony+) are pk active to the faction. DAs and Judges can now be bribed to drop charges or throw a case (10k for every year) tldr you wanna rp like your taking down the mob be prepared to fear for your life and this is america home of bribery.

This might be a reach, but it would be nice to have an equipment slot above your inventory for small firearms or small melee weapons. Im expecting to get downvoted to hell but just an idea.

RICO shouldn't, and doesn't, need to return because, as others have said, it is simply too broad and powerful. This was the reason it was removed in the first place (among other issues with the FBI at the time). Instead, there should be systems or processes added to place that supplement the OOC rules to verify the integrity and reliability of evidence so that the hard work detectives do don't get voided at the last minute because of suspected metagame or powergame. Good place to start may be verifying with UA, before thorough investigations begin, that a certain confidential informant is actually a long-term player that would have realistic knowledge of a faction's high command identity/activities instead of an ordinary member with a mere grudge, or a new member with no knowledge of what they're really doing.

I get what you're saying, my initial opinion was that the snowball as an item is entirely stupid to have. It messes with my autism of having too much shit equipped and it's basically just a minge item. looking at the clip by the time the offender was shot there was exactly 10 second delay before the offender decides to shoot back which imo is way too long to make the "he shot me first!!" excuse, you gotta commit to it right away if youre gonna do it not wait for the right moment its very clear youre waiting/aiming up a line up waiting in those 10 seconds from your pov you even immediately duck down into the water after shooting you knew 100% what you were doing if you have 5+ cops aiming guns at you even if one did shoot at you in what world would the criminal wait a bit then decide to pull a gun on 5+ cops aiming guns at them its pure suicide and -200 IQ thinking which doesn't make sense RP wise obvs im not involved but theres needs to be clarity on the "cop shooting you" rules and the limits around it imo as i feel cases like these the rules are manipulated to get out of a situation in which they 100% wouldve been dealt consequences naturally also you legit admitted to cop baiting which lead to the incident in this thread so im sure the character was a throw away anyways

Two wrongs dont make a right on that one imo the standard should be raised on both sides of the equation and equally if one side is going to get buffed the other side needs something too. Like I had suggested, adding the ability for faction leadership to reign in who can access what would be huge. Faction leaders also already do have access to many tools needed to prevent the building of these cases like using middlemen (see Vinny Lucchese using Vincent Lucchese as the legal front man for his faction, that is exemplary work since Vincent doesn't do crimes but is still active) and keeping operational separation from himself and the lower rung doing crimes. Much qualms as I have with Lucchese as a faction, they are an example of good opsec. Of course there may be people in the factioon that break the opsec by bank sharing or using banks at all for storage but like individual catches are nowhere even remotely close enough to fully build a RICO case. These cases need you to do a long line of serious fuckups and not policing information (yapping to the lower people about sensitive shit). TL;DR there is SO MUCH you can do to prevent these crimes from working out. They only work out when you get really sloppy. If one lower level person is able to cause a significant enough level of damage to build this kind of case, you might need to look back at all the places leadership went wrong. Yeah I can imagine though that was a time in diverge I'm not so quick to want to return to. Keeping RICO exclusive to a very small group, having a very high bar as far as what you need to accomplish to make it work, and even maybe a requirement for UA approval before using the mechanisms could balance out those concerns. UA gets involved even in detective operations fairly often from what I've gathered and experienced. I wouldn't personally mind them being involved in when the lever is allowed to be pulled. Mind, even them granting the okay to go through with the execution does not automatically win the case either it still needs to go to court AND be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. With all the above in mind, I think we might be able to craft a new system with accountability and safety measures put in place to prevent abuse.
